they haven't changed that pedal in forever and i love it. the bigger ones make my ankles hurt. give it a chance and then if it still bugs you find out if there's a larger one available.

turn it over and put the top on the bottom and you are able to curl toes over the bump and it works slick. if it slides use some of the other suggestions, but it solve some of the problems too.

How about you? Maybe I contact Janome and ask whether a big heavy one is available!?

I have a Viking with a large pedal and I tend to use my 'toes' to run the machine to a greater extent than I do with the Janome. I can use the pressure from my 'whole foot/arch' with the smaller pedal and find it less tiring.

I started quilting about 3 three years ago and bought a smallish Jannone as my first machine. When it was demonstrated at the quilt show where I purchased it, the woman used the button to stop and start. So, from the day I bought it, I only use the stop and start button. Can't sew any other way.

Your Bernina foot pedal looks just like the one that came with my 1031, its almost 20 years old. I agree that most foot pedals for the newer machines are too lightweight and just don't stay put.

I put mine on that rubber shelving stuff that keeps dishes from moving around. Works like a charm!

That is exactly what I do. I too just got my horizon and I agree the foot pedal is a little light weight, but I do love the machine. :):)

Feedback from Janome this morning

Good morning

Thank you for the feedback, it is always nice to hear from a happy customer. However we would not recommend that you use a foot control from a different sewing machine as the wattage etc may be different and could cause problems with the motor of your machine.

Try an old mousepad under it :-)

My older Pfaff has a smaller foot pedal like the Janome, I also sew barefoot, and I find if I turn the foot pedal upside down I have more control. Just a thought.
