I thought that would come in real handy.

abdconsultant 06-10-2011 05:40 PM

great idea.

sueisallaboutquilts 06-10-2011 05:41 PM

That's really cute. I just watched a bit of the youtube video of the Pintastic and it's so dumb!!! lol

irishrose 06-10-2011 05:47 PM

I would add piece of study cardboard or plastic inside the pin cushion on the machine side. Some of our grandmothers really did a number on their machines using something tied on the cross bar for a pin cushion. My machines may be vintage, but they don't need any more scratches than they get with normal use.

That being said, I do like this idea.

virtualbernie 06-10-2011 05:50 PM

That's cool! Now I can get all those pins off my sewing table and floor! I'm making one tonight.

ncsewer 06-10-2011 06:02 PM

Better face it. If you sew at all, no matter what contraption you have, a pin or needle will find its way onto the floor. It is the nature of the beast. ;)

You're right about the floor! I was really hoping to keep them off the table. I pull the pins out so fast and drop them on the table as I go then when I finish the seam, my elbows rest on top of the pins that are on the table  , then off to the floor they go!

Dee G 06-10-2011 07:10 PM

What a great idea!

mzmama 06-10-2011 07:12 PM

That is exactly what I need, thank you so much for the site.

cinnya 06-10-2011 08:21 PM

Sigh ,the batteries in my camera are dead.

Agreed. I have gotten into a habit of telling people (other than my family) to watch where they step when they come into my room because of pins ending up on the floor. Even when I have attempted to clean up the pins somehow my brother or mom or somebody else manages to find one...with their feet. I've given up on trying to locate every single pin because I know its impossible! lol

jemma 06-10-2011 08:31 PM

i second irish rose suggestion--i will be making one of these--i think a plastic insert[?template plastic]on the inside wouldb be the best

alikat110 06-10-2011 10:09 PM

Love it.

yellowsnow55 06-10-2011 10:12 PM

Thanks, what a great idea. Bookmarked it.

BeckyB 06-10-2011 10:17 PM

I think I will try it with a piece of magnetic stip that has adhesive on it!

suecq 06-10-2011 11:14 PM

I have one of these on all my machines , I can just pop them in as I sew and it's alway's in the same place lol, so i can't miss. Well most of the time, they still seem to like the floor best but I just pick them up with my magnet on a stick, my hips do not like me going on the floor and won't let me up again. :)

Charming 06-10-2011 11:15 PM

That is awesome idea...i want one :-(

saf 06-10-2011 11:31 PM

great idea. thanks for sharing

jrharry 06-11-2011 12:40 AM

Thanks for the great tip!

jitkaau 06-11-2011 02:47 AM

I like this idea, but worry that the pins might scratch through to the machine if there was not a plastic insert to stop it. I first saw the idea on the Martha Stewart show and she had a pattern for one.

kuntryquilter 06-11-2011 02:56 AM

Thanks I have been trying to figure out a place to put a pin cushion on my machine.

Krystyna 06-11-2011 03:06 AM

I've seen similar pin cushions on old estate sale commercial machines and always thought they were a little disgusting looking, but this one is so pretty! NOW I get it!

moneill 06-11-2011 03:36 AM

Great idea. Thanks for pointing this out. She is selling these in her Etsy shop for $5 which seems reasonable enough. I recognize this is easy to make, but I don't know when I would get to it and for $5, I'm happy to support her. I don't think there are any left on her site, but I imagine if someone wants one and emails her, she would whip up another one. Thanks again for pointing this out.

Babs194068 06-11-2011 03:42 AM

Printed it out and plan on making it today. Thanks

QuiltnNan 06-11-2011 04:59 AM

bebe 06-11-2011 05:06 AM

lorimax5859 06-11-2011 05:06 AM

What a great idea - going to make one now. Thanks for sharing.

AnnT 06-11-2011 05:14 AM

I have a zillion pincushions but usually toss the pins in a terra cotta saucer then transfer them back to the pincushion later. I'll have to try this one.

lillybeck 06-11-2011 05:26 AM

Now this is an idea worth looking at..

Please be careful with the magnetic strip if you have a computerized machine.
I have a another sewing machine and I was thinking putting it on this one with double sided velcro.

nabobw 06-11-2011 05:32 AM

That is really a great idea. Just might have to try it

dglvr 06-11-2011 05:37 AM

Thanks for the info. I think I'll make one for mine. Looks handy

btiny36 06-11-2011 05:40 AM

wow great idea...thanks for sharing this...

catladyquilts 06-11-2011 05:44 AM

that is very practical. useful but not taking up room on your work table. would go to a class very easily

4girlsmimi 06-11-2011 06:02 AM

This is a wonderful idea. Think I'll make me one and try it out. I love my magnetic one, but find myself fumbling around trying to hit it. This looks like it might be really handy. Thanks for sharing the idea.
