why I never get anything finished!!! I had every intention this afternoon of finishing up the quilt I started last Sunday, then I hop on here just for a minute to see what's up.....4 hours later, I've yet to get to my sewing room, been skipping from one site to another, one blog to another, racking up more things on my ever growing to do list !!

Guess I haven't been a total mush mess this afternoon, did manage to get 2 loads of laundry done, sheets changed on the bed and dinner fixed.....but then where am I??? Right back here.....step away from the keyboard!!

cmrenno 09-25-2011 03:31 PM

You are not alone. This is my downfall too! There's just too much "eye candy here!"

quiltgrammyt2 09-25-2011 03:31 PM

I know EXACTLY what you mean, it happens to me on a regular bases!!!!

TiltedEars 09-25-2011 03:32 PM

Ha! I try to keep my laptop beside the sewing machine & when I'm especially alert, I can spend time sewing & visiting on here! I know exactly where you're coming from. You're not the only one.

Vanuatu Jill 09-25-2011 03:38 PM

I am in that club too! I get so angry at myself when all I intend to do is "just check" what's going on on the board, and several hours later, I'm still here!!

Rose Marie 09-25-2011 03:46 PM

Ive got a bad cold today so using that as an excuse to cruse the board at this hour.

maryb119 09-25-2011 03:49 PM

Me too! I intended to sew all afternoon but I had to take a break and find out what is going on here on the board.

Raggiemom 09-25-2011 04:00 PM

It's very addicting, like Thin Mints!

Vicki W 09-25-2011 04:03 PM

I am so glad to be in such good company...I think it happens to most of us.

Mariposa 09-25-2011 04:08 PM

I can relate!!

Honeynga 09-25-2011 04:13 PM

So you aren't in this/that boat alone ! It amuses me that you used a very southern term....you "fixed" dinner which is exactly what we do here in the south ! Some of you folks might say you made dinner.....my MIL would have said that she toted in the groceries and then fixed supper ! How awesome.

I'm in Michigan and we always fixed dinner. With my cooking it always needs fixin'

mtspools 09-25-2011 04:51 PM

Same here was going to work on my hand embroidery this evening, but you see where I am . LOL

deedum 09-25-2011 04:59 PM

I cut out a autumn scrappie lap quilt this morning, DNP. Now, I have yet to finish my pinwheel lapquilt that is on my design wall that a started 2 months ago. My King size broken dishes quilt that is started months before that. Instead I spend my time here, at least for a little while. It is something I can do while watching tv with my dh, at some point I will break away from here and get back to my lapquilt....that's my plan... :)

LindaM49 09-25-2011 05:02 PM

My mother used to "fix dinner". And she was born/raised/lived and died in PA. I seem to recall my hubby's grandmother saying it too. She was PA Dutch from Lancaster County in PA.

We "fix" dinner or supper in Iowa, too.

jrtpetey 09-25-2011 07:04 PM

Me too! I seem to never do what I intended to do. Oh well, there's always tomorrow!

There's a lot of great stuff on the internet, but too often this "virtual world" keeps us from doing anything in the real world. Some days I just have to stay away from the computer.

hobo2000 09-25-2011 07:17 PM

I'm Oklahoma born and raised and we fix dinner too. We make biscuits while fixin dinner. LOL

hobo2000 09-25-2011 07:17 PM

Sorry for the double post!

Painiacs 09-25-2011 08:59 PM

Yep need an intervention but we would just talk aboutthqb site!! Lol

debbieumphress 09-25-2011 09:02 PM

Some of us stay on here way too long but then again, we can pace ourselves because we still get quitling done too. Must be on here 24/7...Just saying. LOL

BETTY62 09-25-2011 09:42 PM

I am soooo addicted to this board. It's nice to know that I'm not alone. I tell my hubby that I learn so much here that I am expanding my education, not wasting my time.

Sounds like me. It's almost like an addiction. I told my DH the other day that I needed to cancel the internet so I could work on something. I'm on the computer so much, I can't seem to focus on anything else. I took computer classes in college, but If I remember correctly it was so I could get a better job.....Where's my better paying job??? Still out there and here I sit. LOL

TacoMama 09-25-2011 10:24 PM

Yeah, I keep coming back to QB.........it is so addicting. Never enough time to read all you want. Never enough time to sew..............etc.

19angel52 09-26-2011 03:48 AM

Oh I am right with you on that! I get up early "just to check emails" and an hour later, I haven't even opened up my emails....I've been reading blogs, THIS message board...and so on and so on.

No wonder we creative people never get a project finished in a "timely manner".

lovedquilts 09-26-2011 04:10 AM

That is me!

ckcowl 09-26-2011 04:18 AM

that's what timers are for! :)
when i take a break from what ever and get on the computer i set the kitchen timer for 45 minutes- my timer has a 1minute warning ding- when that one minute warning dings i finish what i am doing- shut down the computer- and go shut the timer off- now it's time to be doing what ever is next :)

jad1044 09-26-2011 04:28 AM

I am as guilty of being here as anyone - it is such good informatioin, and quality beauty that is put out by all here on this board... how can we not set here and learn and admire those who already have so many accomplishments behind them... it is tough to choose between admiring and sewing - but one day soon - I need to get back at it - my December great neice or nephew will want it's little quilt!:)

mjsylvstr 09-26-2011 04:40 AM

In the middle of housecleaning....where am I ?????

Sitting here chatting with you !!!!!!!

Val in IN 09-26-2011 04:47 AM

Guilty as charged. BTW, I'm from Calif. and I have always "fixed dinner". Having moved from the west to Indiana, I'm still not used to dinner being lunch.

Becky Mc 09-26-2011 04:56 AM

That is what I was just going to ask Supper is the last meal of the night? And dinner is lunch?

For me it is Lunch and Dinner

clsurz 09-26-2011 05:03 AM

Now step away from the keyboard and go make a wall applique quilt to hang in from of you where your computer is depicting a laptop, a gal pushing away from the computer and title it Step Away From The Keyboard.

Growing up in Maine it was breakfast, dinner and supper. Living here in the deep south it is breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Interesting how even in this country living in different parts of it how things are said and done.

Definitely me too. If I get up at 5, 6 or 7a.m. the first thing I do is turn on my computer. Go down to the kitchen, get my coffee and back upstairs to plop. Today my plan was to get back to cutting and pieceing around my panels for my Christmas wallhanging and here it is after 10a.m. and I've had 3 cups of coffee, played with the dogs for a couple of minutes and my butt is right back in this chair. It's like if I stay away from here for 15 minutes and then come back, there is a lot more to read and see just on page 1. LOL

What an excellent idea! But do you EVER find yourself not shutting down and reset the timer to give yourself an extra 15 minutes or 1/2 hour? See...I am afraid I would be guilty of doing that...thinking to myself...I'll give myself time to just check 1 or 2 more things and then screw up my self discipline...LOL.

Caswews 09-26-2011 06:33 AM

I need to finish my sewing room then I can finish up projects I work around the stuff now !LOL

Dkm 09-26-2011 06:36 AM
