I am awaiting an email addy from littlehud and some mailing addresses and phone numbers from some participants as well. Check your PM box and your personal email. If you have not sent your addy and phone number to me, please do so ASAP.

Here we go ladies! Get to work on those centers! Post pics of them when you complete them! Can't wait to see!!! :P

QuiltingTurtle 04-15-2008 08:49 AM

This is so exciting. I had some ideas...lol but I keep changing my mind. I can't wait to see what everyone else comes up with.

Quilting Aggi 04-15-2008 09:31 AM

I haven't done one of those in YEARS!!! I had to stop a few years ago when I returned back to university full time.. I have since finished all that and out in the workforce the last 2 1/2 years.... I would love to get back into doing one again.

imaquilter 04-26-2008 07:36 AM

okay ladies....I have 3 spots still open.

Is there anyone else interested in the Round Robin? You would have to have a center ready to ship by May 15th.

If you are interested, let me know by sending a PM with your personal email addy and I will forward you the complete instructions.

tlrnhi 04-26-2008 07:41 AM

Come on! 3 more, this will be fun!!!

Count me in next time - summer is just too busy for us. :(

I just wanted to say that I have been involved in a couple of these locally and had alot of fun  . They can be a great learning experiance as you get to play with colours and patterns that you might not necessarialy normally use :P . I really enjoyed the challenge of coming up with a border that would work with what was already in the quilt. Unfortunately as I am international, it wouldn't be fair on other's for me to be involved in this one, re: postage costs and time lags for post  . so I just wanted to say to other's that if you can find a bit of spare time and make the commitment, the experiance is well worth it :D .

imaquilter 04-28-2008 07:09 AM

Okay everyone!

I have emailed you the participant list.

Don't forget to post anytime you mail out your center or borders and post again when you have received them.

This is going to be so much fun!

Post pics of all your centers before you mail them-we can't wait to see them!

sewhappy 04-28-2008 11:44 AM

OK! I'm ready! Bring it on!

tlrnhi 04-28-2008 01:48 PM

Alrighty!
I got my list and now I am ready to go.
Oops, I better finish that center, huh? lol

Dawn Hendrix 04-28-2008 02:44 PM

I just wanted to say.. I AM SO DARN EXCITED!!!!

tlrnhi 04-28-2008 02:53 PM

Me too, Dawn!

Hey, you aren't the one that taught the quilting at Hickam, that lived up in Schofield, are you?

bettlove 04-29-2008 02:10 PM

I mailed my round robin center to Dawn Hendrix in Hampton, GA on April 29th. My name is Bett Love from Anza, California and I am excited about doing this.

marty_mo 04-29-2008 02:36 PM

Do we send along coordinating fabrics or is it up to the other members to supply the fabric?

imaquilter 04-29-2008 03:42 PM

You can send along coordinating fabric if you wish to have it used in the quilt. Otherwise, all fabric for the borders is provided by each participant when they do their part of the quilt.

tlrnhi 04-29-2008 06:11 PM

woohoo! 1 is on it's way.
Mine will go out in a couple days.

Have you got all the required participants yet?

We used to make round robins in the quilt programs, but the real thing is much, much better.

Here's a couple computer quilt program round robins I played with ... (because I just love my quilt program)

I did take one tho, with Shari. I'm sure Shari was probably in a few of the ones you were in. Most of them were on days I had to work. yuck!

I am going crazy with the applique. Do you think this would be fine without applique. Sorry the photo is so bad. Only had my phone handy.

vicki reno 04-30-2008 09:39 AM

Were you trying to put applique in the middle? It looks lovely to me, but I don't know how much more you were going to add. I do applique a lot. Is theer anything I can help you with--long distance? I'd be glad to try if you like.

QuiltingTurtle 04-30-2008 09:49 AM

Thanks Vicki, the pattern wanted me to cut out the little pieces of the flowers and satin stich around them with stabilizer. I am not good at that...lol that is where the problem is coming in. I am now looking into just using freezer paper and tucking them under and sewing them on by hand. But I think that will take me FOREVER....

So I am trying to decide to go with a simple (so it doesn't take too long) applique pattern (freezer paper method) or just leave it the way it is.

Whew hope you understood that.

vicki reno 04-30-2008 10:11 AM

Have you considered the blanket stitch, or the invisible hem stitch on the machine? Is that maybe an option? Usually my satin stitching looks kind of wonky but maybe one of the other 2 sttiches would work for you. Good luck!

imaquilter 04-30-2008 10:15 AM

Wow, quilting turtle, your center is preettyyy! I think it looks just fine the way it is. That being said, I also think it would add something to it to do some applique to enhance it. I think that if you want to do it, go for it and simplify what is suggested for the applique design. If you don't want to do the applique, the center is beautiful without it.

I'm sure I didn't help you any........

I am thinking of it. I am just so afraid of ruining the center if I mess up. I think I am just going to try some simple flowers and see how it goes.

Thanks everyone for the kind words :)

sewhappy 04-30-2008 12:37 PM

Center done and on it's way! Sent to Imaquilter from Sewhappy,Anchorage Alaska!

tlrnhi 04-30-2008 12:56 PM

I think the block is pretty the way it is!

The block I am making is giving me such a fit!
I'm NOT giving up on it, I've come this far with this pattern.
I did realize last night when I was trying to finish it, that it was actually TOO large. I now have to "cut it back" to make it smaller. Don't know WHAT I was thinking!
Hoping to get it in the mail by the weekend.

Dawn Hendrix 04-30-2008 12:58 PM

I thought they were not suppose to be mailed until the 15 of May? Am I wrong on this? Please someone let me know...

tlrnhi 04-30-2008 01:23 PM

It can be mailed early if need be. I'm going to try to get mine out early only because of the mail here.
Once I recieve a center in the mail...ALL projects I have going will stop and I will only work on the Round Robin. Sometimes things come here quickly, other times it doesn't. Guess it depends on the earth and moon alignment. Dunno. ;)

imaquilter 04-30-2008 01:28 PM

Yes Dawn, you are correct. The center does not HAVE to be mailed until May 15th. Thank goodness as I still have one to get ready myself!!

Dawn Hendrix 04-30-2008 01:51 PM

whew.. I was re-reading my directions.... yall had me worried for a minute!

I had to go back and reread it too, and it says it could be sent before the 15th. I'm thinking that since I do have a bit more time, I might just rip out what I have and start over, but if I do, that means this center "has beaten me".

Dawn Hendrix 04-30-2008 01:58 PM

LOL >>> NEVER LET IT BEAT YOU!!!!

Don't intend to let it do that!
Some of the points don't match, but it will be MY quilt since all the ones I have made have been given away. This one will go on the back of my recliner. That's MY chair!

imaquilter 04-30-2008 03:59 PM

Leave it! Don't rip it out. I am sure it is perfectly wonderful!!!

Cordelia 04-30-2008 04:53 PM

So have you all got everyone you need? I didn't hear yet if there's any spots left or not.

tlrnhi 04-30-2008 11:38 PM

Oh, I am going to leave it. Just have to "fix" some of the seams where I ripped part of it out.
It's going to barbsbus first, so if she thinks it needs some "tweeking", meaning it might not be all that square (I did square it), then by all means, square the dang thing! lol
