Ladies, I am loving watching your Round Robin. I wanted to join, but with my DH up in the air this summer, I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get stuff done and back out in time...so I sure am excited about seeing all your quilts in the making! I love the centers so far....keep 'em coming girls!

I will be watching for another round robin later this year...I've never done it, but it sure looks like fun :D

mareliba 05-05-2008 05:29 AM

I am sending my center out today to macbroo in Maryland. I am including a block and pen for all of you to sign your name to. Thank you for all the future work you will be putting into my quilt!

mareliba

mareliba 05-05-2008 05:32 AM

bettlove - I can draw that pattern up for you. What size do you want your finished block to be? I would recommend no smaller than 10" and can be as big as you want.

I ordered a pen from Joanns, but the order isn't in as of yet. It's been 3 weeks. I think it's taking that long because it's such a big box that I have coming this time.
No worries on envelopes. Those usually take about 10 days to get to me.
For those of you who are on the same list as I am....if you could post a pic of your middle, it will give me time to get to the local store to see what they have for fabric, OR get something ordered. Especially those of you who are WAAY down on the list. But, then again...I just might have something in my stash.

I'm getting excited!! :) :)

Cordelia 05-05-2008 01:09 PM

I will be sending mine out later in the week as well. Mine is actually a small panel that would be perfect to just put borders on. It's like 28 inches or so.

What is a DH?

Dawn Hendrix 05-05-2008 03:34 PM

DH...... Darling Husband

imaquilter 05-05-2008 03:34 PM

A DH is a Dear Husband. There are also DD - Dear Daughter, DS - Dear Son, etc.

Hee Hee...it is so hard to learn all of this abbreviated talk, isn't it?

imaquilter 05-05-2008 03:56 PM

Sewhappy....

I received your center today. It is gorgeous! I will take a pic of it and post it so everyone can see it. Can't wait to get started on it!!!

Well, I put a panel together to be my center piece, but after finishing it, realize it's totally inappropriate! I thought a panel would be easy to just throw a bunch of borders on.

As for my center block, I think I'm going to use the one here:

http://www.quilterscache.com/C/CarpentersWheelBlock.html

I'll make it up and send it out.

Here's a picture anyway of my panel. :D I think I'll finish it up and just hang it.

tlrnhi 05-07-2008 02:19 AM

I MISPLACED MY SQUARE!! UGH!!
Now I am in the process of taking the leftover pieces I have from the screwup and making a new one. :(

vicki reno 05-07-2008 03:02 AM

I am approaching th finish line and starting to panic! I have machine stitching left on 24 leaves and machine stitching on several other pieces as well. Hope I get time this weekend to do it. If that wasn't stressful enough, we are in the middle of a kitchen renovation!

tlrnhi 05-07-2008 03:20 AM

I need to just get back in my room and finish this second one. Once that is done and in the mail in the morning I KNOW I will find the first one.

tlrnhi 05-07-2008 05:45 AM

Alrighty!
Second square is now done. It's with the rest of the packages I have going out in the mornning.
WIll post when I get back from post office.

QuiltingTurtle 05-07-2008 07:39 AM

just a check in. My package should be in the mail by Friday. I will post when it is out definite. Can't wait to work on the first border.

tlrnhi 05-07-2008 05:00 PM

My square went out.

Barbsbus...It's on it's way to you! If you need to square it a bit more, go ahead. I made it quickly last night since I misplaced the first one

tlrnhi 05-08-2008 03:13 PM

Ok, as I'm sitting here trying to make a list of everything that I need to do and checking off things that I have done, it occured to me that I might have forgotten to do something with the square I sent out.

I sent it out to Barbsbus, she was under my name.
I included a square in there for all to sign.
Was I to do anything else????

barbsbus 05-08-2008 03:28 PM

I'm looking forward to getting it. Just got back from Oregon. Had to go up and run errands for my mother but was able to work on my square. I started a basket with scrappy flowers. I hope to get into the mail to Dawn on Monday. Have to take DH to a bunch of doctor appointments on Friday and will be able to get to the post office on Monday. I am going to leave room in the basket to make more flowers after I see what the borders look like and will be asking for scrapes of material from the borders if anyone has a few pieces left over. I plan to make a variety of flowers. So far I made a few with yo yo's and embrodery thread.

tlrnhi 05-08-2008 03:31 PM

I'll be glad to include scraps for ya. Might include even more than just scraps! :)

Cordelia 05-08-2008 06:13 PM

Mareliba's center block arrived in the post today.

WOW! The picture didn't do it justice! I just sat and stared at it. I'm going to have to do some thinking.

As I was sewing busily along, my sewing machine made a loud bang noise and seized up!

Oh, no!

My mom's got three other sewing machines, but I'm used to working on mine. If mine has to go into the shop, I'm going to be a little "off" center myself.

Anyhow, just thought I'd let you know I have your beautiful square and will get busy on it.

I just took a picture of the square. I may add some more flowers before I ship it off, then again, maybe not. Got a pretty full plate this coming weekend. I plan to add flowers and greenery when I get it back with the borders.

That's pretty!

mareliba 05-09-2008 05:36 AM

Cordelia - This is great and I am excited to see the finished product already. It is really nice knowing when things are being sent and received.

barbsbus - Love your basket. Also love the foot in the picture! hehehehe

Dawn Hendrix 05-09-2008 04:43 PM

My mission this weekend is to finish my center... time is ticking!

vicki reno 05-09-2008 06:17 PM

I am auditoning a yellow yo yo for the very center. I will look t it agin in real daylight not just a daylight lamp. Then slip stitch it sown. After that its on to the label. I can't decide what to call it but ya'll can express an opinion or give a suggestion tomorrow after I sew the yo yo on. Its a version of the rose of sharon with pastel colors for the flowers, so I am thinking of aname with spring in it, just not sure what to call it yet.

I'm done except for the label. The yellow yo yo isn't stitched just yet. I wanted to see how it would look in the daylight before I sewed it on. I think I will go ahead and attched it. I used a combination of hand and machine applique. The stems and part of the big flower are hand and the rest is machine. It measures 35" or there abouts.

Dawn Hendrix 05-10-2008 07:14 AM

that is just beautiful.... great job!

vicki reno 05-10-2008 07:54 AM

Thanks. I'm hoping that by the time it comes back, it will almost cover the top of a bed. Then I could add a very wide border to hang down over the sides and put more vines and flowers on that. I know there is no gurantee, so I will just wait and see what everyone comes up with. But I am pleased. I was afraid I wouldn't get done in time, because it was slow going. Not all the long stems ar placed exactly so, but it was a retty good try. I had never made one block that was so big, so it was a challenge and I didn't have the urge to toss it in the garbage. That happens a lot with me! I don't actually toss them but sometimes would seriously consider it!

barbsbus 05-10-2008 09:05 AM

That is so pretty! I know you will love it when you get it back.

tlrnhi 05-10-2008 03:20 PM

I wanted to say that I am enjoying watching this thread. Plese post more pictures as the quilts progress. It is very interesting to see. If I was a little more skilled and could afford the fabric I would consider joining a round robin. It is hard for me to commit to things like this when I work a different shift everyweek and only get every third weekend off. I hope everyone has a great time in the round robin. Maybe in a year or two I can join one.

All the centers look beautiful!!

I like that!

Barb M 05-11-2008 11:14 PM

Wow, this is really fun watching you guys, so glad you're posting photos :) :) :)

vicki reno 05-12-2008 04:38 AM

Love your colors!

imaquilter 05-12-2008 06:34 AM

First of all, EVERYONE'S centers look unbelievable! Such variety! That is what I LOVE about doing this.....we are all going to stretch our skills and imagination. Really makes you come out of your box. Great job everyone....I'm in both groups so, I can not wait to work on all of them! Lucky me.

Second, sewhappy I picked out the fabrics for your border at the Quilt Shop on Saturday. I am so excited to work on it this week. I am trying out a new border idea. I took a picture of the shop and stapled a business card to your journal along with notes about choosing the fabrics. I will add more notes as I sew it on. And as a bonus....the author of the French Braid book, Jane Hardy Miller, is a friend of mine and she helped me choose your fabrics! That is too cool ( at least I thought). She will probably help me choose everyone else's as well. Yea!

I will post pics of Sewhappy's center before and after my border this week!

Have fun ladies!
