I find hte altoid tins are great for all of my pin storage. I use different flavours for different pins. Works great and i always store my saftey pins closed for I think they hold up better then when in a tangled mess open

Mine are in a big old can that nuts came in, unclosed.. I was closing them and then just having to open them again to use, so decided to be lazy and leave them open...if they tangle, just shake a few out at a time...

I leave mine open in a plastic food storage container with a lid so they don't spill all over everything. I only use safety pins when pinning a quilt, I get stuck too much if I use straight pins. And I hate bleeding on my quilts.

I use a very over stuffed small plastic bowl stuffed with cotton and covered with a couple layers of T shirt cloth. Drawed down tight and tacked to a round board. That way they are always open and not tangled. Sharp point in cotton head outside of bowl for easy access. Potato chip dip bowl works great.

I store my safety pins in a plastic tub with a lid on tight and I always close them so they won't become a tangled mess.

Saw on Fons and Porter stringing the safety pins on a pin similar to the horse blanket pin. They were left open.

I spray baste, so I don't have to open or close too many pins! :D :D

I store my quilting pins open in a shortbread tin. When I'm ready to use them I just lift out a bunch, shake them loose and start pinning. I store my flower-head pins in Altoid tins.
