I keep them pinned together in a chain and then pin the chain to a large pin cushion ... I only have about 15, not a bunch. The teeny ones are just poked in the pin cushion.

The don't get tangled left open! DGD pinned about a hundred on a tee shirt making a pattern with the colors for spirit day at school. She won most creative during spirit day. The sure make safety pins easier to use.

I will probably try that as soon as I get a stitch holder. Straight pins are in several different pin cushions placed at each machine and ironing board.

Thanks everyone for all of your suggestions. That's what I love about this board. You get prompt responses and soooo many "different" ideas. Surely one of these ideas will work for me, I'm gonna try a few to see what I like best.

I store mine closed and in ( or is it on?) a magnetic pin cushion ( bowl )
