Sewing Machines All Covered UP!

I finally finished the covers for my sewing machine! After making some totes as Christmas gifts, it dawned on me that if I turn the tote upside down it fit my serger perfectly. The Bernina needed about 3" added to the width & about 6" taken off the length but they were easy to make, easy to take on & off and pretty (if I do say so myself! ;))

Sounds like you have it figured out-I have a Babylock I have just been throwing a large cloth over but have been wanting to put a sewn cover on. Do you have pictures to share?

Very nice!! I love them; the black and white toile is outstanding!! I would like to make some for my machines, but never get around to it.

CorgiNole 11-18-2011 08:36 PM

Those are very elegant!

Cheers, K

Love them, you made the elegant/fancy covers....I made one for my serger, viking and FW...using "the Beatles" black fabric and matching window valance.I have to cover all my machines because my kitty eats the thread !! I still have to make new covers for my Big Board and reg. ironing board. I will try to post mine when I am all done

soozieq2 11-18-2011 08:50 PM

Those look terrific. I, too, love the toile.

Charlee 11-18-2011 08:54 PM

Dody, those are SO pretty!! :) I made covers for mine, but they're ugly and utilitarian...

annthreecats 11-18-2011 08:56 PM

Very pretty covers. I keep planning to do covers, but haven't finished other projects yet. One of these days...

very nice what a great idea

Quilt-Till-U-Wilt 11-19-2011 03:53 AM

You gave me an idea. I have a cover for my smaller machne but it's just plain.I use leftover blocks that aren't perfect, or blocks I practiced on for totes. Never thought of using them on my sewing machine covers.

sandyl 11-19-2011 03:55 AM

Sharp covers!

Juliebelle 11-19-2011 03:59 AM

I agree! sure beats the heck out of the ugly plastic covers I have on my machine  Oh Well...my sewing area is in the basement so they'll be ok....at least until I'm all done with ALL the other projects I have going.

Yours look BEAUTIFUL in your nice sewing room! Congrats!

sassyg 11-19-2011 05:03 AM

I am so glad you were able to post the pictures of your covers. They are absolutely gorgeous!

dunster 11-19-2011 05:23 AM

Wonderful idea! I have plastic covers, which are probably lost somewhere in the clutter. At any rate I never use them, but I might if I had beautiful covers like yours.

Could you share the name of the pattern you used?

SherryW 11-19-2011 05:28 AM

Those look very nice. :)

Beautiful, and such a clean sewing room. To bad mine is not so clean and I need to find some time to make my covers.

Mary O 11-19-2011 05:45 AM

Nice cover though I never cover mine because I sew just about every day.....

sewingsuz 11-19-2011 06:32 AM

Your sewing room looks very neat and organized, I love the covers you made. Awsome

Lisa Marie 11-19-2011 06:32 AM

They are pretty better and a great idea!

Beachbound 11-19-2011 07:40 AM

Thanks for all the kind words! The fabric was just WalMart decor stuff and I had the piping & ribbon. Those darn things were on my bucket list for 2 years, lol!!! Just don't forget the interfacing, ask me why I know that;) I sew almost eveyday too but since the Bernina is in front of a window I wondered about sun damage. These are super easy to pop on & off. About the room being clean; it's the craziest thing, I can not allow it to be messy. I need everything in it's place or I have no idea what I have. Too bad I am not that way with the rest of the house....like the kitchen!!! Bahahaha!!!

Barbshobbies 11-19-2011 07:49 AM

You are soooo neat, not many sewing rooms look like that!! Also beautiful covers, I`ll bet that would be a new item for
craft sales, you may have to get sizes of the most used sewing machines, but you said they were easy to make, no one has a pattern but you, so it wouldn`t be copied real soon. They look like they could stand alone, so they might fit more
than one machine. I really like it.

EmbQuilt 11-19-2011 07:53 AM

I agree they look very elegant. The ribbon adds a nice touch
