I LOVE my Start/Stop button. I use it all the time for free motion, and I'm starting to use it for regular sewing also.

In fact, the main reason that I haven't purchased a mid-arm machine is that none of them have the Start/Stop button. I don't think that I could live without it at this point in time.

Can't get used to it.

Was so used to the stop/start button on the embroidery machine, I had to trade in my NS50 for the Brother QC1000 as I couldn't get used to using the foot control. (Well that was my excuse anyway :-) )

I haven't really ever used mine...I guess I am just such a creature of habit that it feels odd to not press that foot pedal to sew...lol...after reading these posts, I may just have to give it more of a go!

I haven't used a foot pedal in 7 years, except for the 6 weeks I was using a backup machine when my Janome 6600 got sick. I don't think I would get near as much sewing done as I do if I had to use a foot pedal (mainly due to a couple of health issues).

I use it when winding bobbins

I've tried it but I don't feel that I have full control. Its kind of like driving a car with cruise control, I feel that the car is driving me instead of me driving the car.

I do...when I got the janome 6600, I took a piece of scrap fabric, and didn't stop until I learned how to use it correctly....you will be so glad you did too...try it..start slow and work your way up...it only takes a few tries to get it right..this leaves both hands free to hold your fabric. And the knee life, same thing..try it until you get it right...they are both wonderful options for sewing.

I have used mine on several occasions, like presently, I am making a flannel top for a young grandchild and mistrusting the stability of the seam allowances. I am using a combination straight stitch/zigzag to sew the rows together which is very time comsuming and yet you need to make sure that the overcasting is kept straight and it seems much easier using the stop/start button than the foot pedal for such a lengthy process.

I use it when freemotionquilting. That's a good idea to
use it for sewing long strips together. I could use it more,
give the 'ol foot a break. HaHa
