I reused a desktop letter holder/sorter. Not sure what you call them. Works great! Each slot is rasied higher like steps.I'm sure the are around $8-10 range in an office supply store.

They are wire holders that holds 45's or albums. I think they may be antique since I haven't seen records in the stores for years.

I was lucky enough to buy and old wooden letter rack for $2.00 at an op shop (yes it's deep enough)

I bought a rack from and for my accuquilt dies. and when I got it i thought well that was a waste of good money when I could have gone to wall mart and bought a rack for dishes or something similar. I use it for my dies and all my rulers.

I made a canvas hanger for the back of the door with pockets for each ruler. I used a pattern from By Annie and modified the pockets to fit my collection of rulers.

Another re-purposed item is one of those brass newspaper holders you keep at the fireplace. Solid and heavy and great for holding pattern books. Me too! Workes great and I keep my file with my sewing machine book close at hand for easy refference. |

I use an old sliced bread cutter by placing them in the slots and also a bread board holder.

Okay, I went to the local Salvation Army Store and the Goodwill Store and bought record holders and file folder holders for less than $1.00 (.50 to be exact) and then put all my rulers and square measures in them in my storage area (the basement). Also, check out those garage sales, you can re-purpose lots of stuff to work for our quilting needs.

I found a plate shelf at a thrift store.. with a groove in it... had my husband add more grooves about 1/2 in apart.. works great..
