Thank you so much for sharing your idea! I pretty much have mine standing on the floor in my closet. It is a pain to have to drag it out everytime I need to cut a few yards. I'll have to try your idea and see how it works. :)

I love you batting storage tip. That is great. I will have to see if my husband can do the same for me in the basement. That would certainly keep the dogs from getting on it.

My DH and I both quilt, so we buy rolls of batting. We just leave it in the box, lay it on it's side under the quilting frame, cut a slit in the box and pull out the batting. It's not too heavy to pull it and have the roll turning inside the box. Then we measure from the outer edge to the edge of the slit in the box, then cut it off and let the end fall back into the box. Keeps it clean and handy.
