Howdy y'all :c)

Recently I posted a picture of the "Apples For the Teacher" quilt I made for my daughter's teacher. She loaned it to me long enough for me to enter it in the county fair, and I got third place!!! I just started quilting 10 months ago, and didn't sew at all before then, so I figure 3rd place is pretty darn good! I'm SOOOOOOOOO excited!!!!!!!!!!!! :c) So should I go whole hog and enter it in the state fair? Whaddya think?

I'm on the right, and the woman who taught me to quilt is on the left. :c)

Thank you! :c) The red and white blocks are drawings of children, and have the "Days of the Week Children" poem in them. The top one says, "Monday's child is full of grace", the next one is "Tuesday's child is fair of face". The funny thing is, I didn't know when I made the quilt that my daughter's teacher had a pre-scheduled C-section with her daughter, and she used that poem to decide which day of the week her daughter would be born on. So it turned out perfect that I found that fabric! :c)

Of course you should enter it! (If your friend the teacher can stand to be without it, that is.)

It is a great quilt -- you must be a natural!

Ramona Byrd 06-17-2011 04:35 PM

Yes, go ahead and do it. Then when you return the quilt to the teacher, also take her the biggest and prettiest apple you can find, also a big apple pie!!! And maybe an apple shapped pot holder.

susie-susie-susie 06-17-2011 04:47 PM

Way to go!!! Third place isn't too shabby especially for a new quilter. I think you should definately enter the State Fair, what do you have to loose? You should be very proud of yourself.
