I agree with this one -

colour choices for your Irish Chain

Both are nice but my vote is for #1 - I also do think you could try a different green. Maybe too many pastels??
IMHO

athenagwis 03-06-2012 10:04 AM

I liked the second at first, but I think others are right, the second one gives a more washed out look and leaves the darker fabric standing out too much, so for that reason I would pick set #1

I like them both .I perfer the speckled one best ,it brings the darker color out of the flowers .Happy sewing

KimS 03-06-2012 10:41 AM

I like the first one better. The fabrics are beautiful. Can't wait to see the finished quilt. :)

quiltingnonie 03-06-2012 11:04 AM

I like the lighter pink because I think the pattern of the fabric blends better with your other fabric choices. In any event, it will be gorgeous!

jarenie 03-06-2012 12:56 PM

I like the second choice

nanascottie 03-06-2012 01:02 PM

i would pick the first one.

icon17 03-06-2012 01:04 PM

I think the one with the speckles :)

My time 03-06-2012 01:08 PM

I like number one better as well. Both will work however.

gypsylady5 03-06-2012 01:18 PM

I like number two - it is softer and more feminine.

Rumbols 03-06-2012 01:23 PM

Lovely fabrics. I vote for the first one as the darker pink really picks up the pinks in the print. Good luck.

mcgeeca 03-06-2012 01:59 PM

I like both groups but would use #1. Love your fabrics.

weasier22 03-06-2012 02:02 PM

This is almost like being at the eye doctors! Which is better - one or two!!! (hee hee) But I'm going with the first one!

ktmo815 03-06-2012 02:07 PM

top one would be my pick

walkswithwolves 03-06-2012 02:18 PM

I go with #2

glenda5253 03-06-2012 02:26 PM

I can see why you are having difficulty - both fabrics are great. I would have to go with the first combo though. Good luck!

Elaine433 03-06-2012 02:45 PM

I like the 1st one, with the speckles. It gives more contrast. The other one just blends in and disappears.

stchenfool 03-06-2012 03:54 PM

Definitely lst choice!

CAS49OR 03-06-2012 03:56 PM

I would go with the first choice, the speckled fabric seems to compliment the darkest purples in the main color.

faykilgore 03-06-2012 04:30 PM

I like the first purple, but I would choose a darker green. However, having personally asked for other's opinions before and not listened, it's your quilt and YOU have to like it! Do post as you go, or post the two sample blocks when you get them made.

SoBuzy 03-06-2012 06:06 PM

I like the second where you show the two pieces only and the first when you show the piece of question with the other materials which in fact, are the same piece but could be identified as either one or two! Right or wrong? However, I agrees that either will be beautiful .... More a personal choice

beatys9 03-06-2012 06:16 PM

I'd go with the first option - the dark speckles pull out the darker tones in the floral & work with the dark blender as well. It's going to be lovely!

annpryor 03-06-2012 06:49 PM

I Like the first blend the best

granny64 03-06-2012 07:33 PM

Either one looks good, but I rather the 2nd one.

needles3thread 03-06-2012 09:10 PM

I like the first one better.

marymay 03-07-2012 04:34 AM

Number 2 picture.Colors are great.

glowworm 03-07-2012 04:37 AM

What I would do is off the wall. When all else fails; I would cut small pieces of the first choice and glue them to a piece of copy paper. Do the same with the second choice on the same paper etc.. Make a copy of the fabrics and when you look at the new copy, pick the fabrics which have the most contrast. Medium, dark and lights show up better on the copy. When the eye is tricked, the copy never lies. I understand you did not ask about contrast, but it needs to be considered, also.

The first photo is the two fabrics in question. In the second and third photo, the rose fabric is not as harsh a colour as it looks, and will be used for the center of the chain.

The lst one!

onaemtnest 03-07-2012 06:02 AM

I love the floral but I really love floral fabrics :0) Just reading the first two pages of responses, it appears that the test blocks will give you the best 'feel' for what appeals to your eye. I personally like the softer blending of the second one, as it appears on my monitor.

glorcour 03-07-2012 06:17 AM

Each will give a slightly different effect. Both will work and I understand your dilemma. Sorry I cannot choose.

matraina 03-07-2012 06:18 AM

I like the first one better. Please let us see the finished product.

Patchwork Pam 03-07-2012 06:19 AM

I like the 1st choice. It has spark. Also it has the light, medium, dark aspect with the floral. Its gonna be abeauty whichever way you choose. Dont forget to post pics.

Annaquilts 03-07-2012 06:20 AM

I am with Glenda. I also think the second choice looks less interesting.

CherryPie 03-07-2012 06:39 AM

I like the 1st one. It just seems to bring out the darker colors in your floral fabric.

GammaLou 03-07-2012 06:42 AM

Either would look fine so what you choose will be which look you like best. I would probably choose the lighter one, but that's just me!

Caswews 03-07-2012 06:47 AM

why not make em out of both ..I like em both !LOL

so-sew 03-07-2012 07:06 AM

I vote for the first choice. I like the dark speckles.

urgodschild2 03-07-2012 08:02 AM

I agree on the first one. It will be beautiful.
