Time to make a choice--HELP!!
3 Attachment(s)
I need to make a final decision on fabrics for my niece's triple Irish chain. I have two lighter coloured fabrics and cannot decide which one will blend better. I have been looking at them for so long, that I am beginning to hate both of them. I am really hoping that all of you have better eyes than me! So which one blends better??
The first photo is the two fabrics in question. In the second and third photo, the rose fabric is not as harsh a colour as it looks, and will be used for the center of the chain. |
I like the first choice
And I like the second.
I'll break that tie. The first looks better with the dark rose solid. The lighter looks washed out.
I like both. :) If I was making it, I would probably go with the 1st one.
I prefer number 1 because the flecks of color pick up the darker tones in the other pinks. In number 2 the pink looks a little washed out.
I like the darker one.
I like the first .... the mottling in the light pink and green seem to compete in the second set. This should be a beautiful quilt.
I like the second one better. Both will make a beautiful quilt.
I like them both but would choose the first with the darker speck to bring out the darks in the floral.
Nice fabrics! It's going to look lovely!! |
First one for sure for me!! Pretty fabrics!
I like the lighter .. because when the size of the sqaures are complete.. the lighter pink will appear to be more dominate than it does in the photos. I think if the darker/with specs is chosen you might over power the floral once the pieces are formed. If it was me I would cut the strip size and then look, showing only the size square of each color. Then choose. Look at the fabrics in the same scale as the final product , step back a few feet , it could make your choice easier.
am glad this is your choice and not mine. I like them all. and the voters look tied.
IMHP they look like they are almost the same shade of pink, so I would go for the 1st one with more texture. A Double Irish Chain is on my to do list, so I am very jealous that you are making one. Good luck and keep us posted!

I'd say the first one if you want a bolder look, and the second one if you want it to look softer.
My first thought is that the first one offers more texture but since I haven't done an Irish Chain I would probably step back and make sure there is enough value difference. The second one might be a better choice if you need a lighter value. Then when I was finished with the top I would consider the one I didn't choose in the main top to be a thin border... They are all beautiful fabrics.

the first. If you only had the second, it would work, but given my druthers? I'd druther use the first
I think the last one the colors just flow together and look like they belong together. That would be my choice.
I think you need a darker green.
I really like the first, but if I were unsure I would make a test block with each and then choose.
i vote for the first one
First one.
Definitely the first one, the second one sort of gets lost in the shuffle, it's just too light in tone.
I agree with Glenda, You have two light fabrics and two brights. I like the brighter ones. Just my opinion
I like the first one- slightly stronger presence.
I also prefer the lighter one, but Lori is right - you need to see the fabrics in the scale they will appear in the quilt.
The first. It offers more contrast and interest.
I like the first one - I feel it gives a nice visual tie between the darker rose and the floral print. I like the texture too. I don't really think you can go wrong either way though - it will be a very pretty quilt!
Number one for me.
Both beautiful but perfer #1.
I think I like the first one.
The speckled one for sure. The darker spots blend with the dark in the flowers.
Okay, thanks for all the input. I have a couple of days off next week and will make some test blocks (I was planning on doing that anyway because I am also undecided about which order to do the colours. But now I will make a block using each of the pinks and then compare them.)
You have all been awesome and made points I had not even thought about. I'll post a photo of the test blocks when they're done. Thanks again! |

I like the 1st one....but both would work. Please show us again after you decide and get it made! :)

I like the darker fabric, but both are lovely (and it shouldn't be hard to find a use for whichever one you don't choose for this project!).
Alison PS Post the final tally when you do make your decision! |
I like the first one too.
