Do you have a yard stick? A long board? A big piece of cardboard? Basically you need something with a long straight edge. At this point you are lining up with the repeat and not measuring. You can follow the repeat up to tell you if you are straight.

Do not forget to sit your fabric in half before cutting your repeats.

mine is 17 inches between repeats the width of the fabric, what would I cut my strips.

My trouble is lining up the repeats b/c it does not look straight. DH found me a yard stick, YAY. Now what do I do to cut straight and find the repeats in a straight line??

You need to find the best way to get your 6 repeats since my calculation put you needing 2.8 yds you need to go sideways to get them. There are diagrams on how you may do it earlier in the thread.

split your fabric in half and then yes. Find the repeat width wise and follow it. If it is a bit off then it should be a bit off all along.

Ok, I found two spots that I will try to use and if it is crooked it will be crooked all the way through.

Thank you, Kyia

Ok I do have 6 repeats going the length of the fabric. But only 3 width. I am so sorry to bug you, I am so confused. I am hoping to be able to work with a fabric piece that is no more than 24 inches the with and the length is that possible, and then cut the strips from that????

if you have 6 in the length, split it in half lengthwise, and then cut your repeats from those, you will get two sets.
