Ours does, if you want to call it fabric, very poor quality and not much of it.

gingerpie 09-20-2011 03:10 PM

I have seen some precuts in some austin area walmarts.

Barbshobbies 09-20-2011 03:11 PM

I was told our Green Bay Wal-Mart would have material, so when I saw 10 or 12 bolts, I did the happy dance, then was told they didn`t have a cutting table yet, so I went back a week later, and LO and BEHOLD there was the cutting table BUT no material. When I asked, I was told they didn`t have enough room for material so they dropped it. I asked if this wasn`t the Supper Wal-Mart that had to get bigger (which few people like) and was told it was a SMALL supper Wal-Mart. If I go across town for material, I`ll have little trouble buying every thing there.

JUNEC 09-20-2011 03:14 PM

I am only seeing precuts at the 3 the lost the fabric in our area - UGH

probison 09-20-2011 03:16 PM

I found out today (9-19) that my WalMart on Germantown Parkway (TN) is bringing back fabric. I read the signs they had posted on the displays and there were places for quilting fabrics, regular fabrics and notions. I am so happy they are doing this--and I told my cashier how I felt. She smiled and said many other customers have told her the same thing. Finally, corporate America listens to the customer!

4dogs 09-20-2011 03:16 PM

my nearest one has it, but not a whole lot and the prices seemed higher to me.......no body working in the area to talk to either..........

Pat M. 09-20-2011 03:28 PM

We have some at our WM but it is the junky type would not use it at all.

kathdavis 09-20-2011 03:34 PM

Ours lost it and has had it back now for 2-3 months.

seahorsesanna 09-20-2011 03:50 PM

went to my walmart today and yes it has a bunch of fabric and quilters standing around wanting to purchase said fabric but NO employees anywhere around to cut it so many of us just left :( plus it was already a mess and fat quarters where thrown everywhere -- very dissappointed

mrsponcho1 09-20-2011 03:57 PM

Yes our store has brought back the fabric dept. I have hurriedly browsed but have not checked closely at the quality. The prices seem to be close to what they were before. I also have not seen anyone working in the dept. since they stocked the shelves.

mizkyp 09-20-2011 04:47 PM

Barb44 09-20-2011 08:14 PM

The Walmart closest to me never lost their fabric dept. But this spring it was expanded. I have gotten a few very nice fabrics there. I don't shop there often but there has always been 2 clerks in the dept.

nursie76 09-20-2011 08:17 PM

The one closest to me had completely gotten rid of their fabric. Now it is back in precuts. Some is actually decent, and they have cotton, corduroy, fleece and twill. But, even closer, is A.C. Moore crafts and they now have precuts also and frequently have 40-50% off coupons and you can use it for any regularly priced item including fabric which hasn't been on sale yet.

Lady Crafter 09-20-2011 09:04 PM

Some Walmarts in upstate NY have fabric back .... but also poor (cheesecloth-type) quality and far less space than when it was discontinued. A BIG disappointment!

BETTY62 09-20-2011 09:54 PM

Ous has added more fabric and it is of a better quality.

piepatch 09-21-2011 02:57 AM

Mine doesn't have the fabric department back yet.

Herein San Antonio,Tx The Wallmarts that have fabric back are ALL IN lots of fabric, tables and accessories, two close by have it , one seems to be going NO FABRIC, it's either feast or famine

odysseyquilter 09-21-2011 03:32 AM

Shelton, CT does, but not Stratford or Milford which are the closest to me. One is better than none!

We got a flyer in the paper Sunday - St. Paul Sunday Pioneer Press and it was from WalMart - It said "Over 2000 stores now carry fabric" or words to that effect! AU CONTRAIRE!!!!! Not in St. Paul - meaning West St. Paul and the Midway WalMart! I called them and they said they were NOT getting fabric in. So it actually means squat, nada, nyet, not on your life, forget it, Charlie!!!!!!

So, as before JoAnn's moved out, St. Paul has only ONE fabric shop and it isn't even a quilt shop. And, they are super nice and have good fabric, but not enough of what quilters generally use (assuming that quilt shops carry mostly cotton). I have asked them to stock more cotton, but in that particular area, they don't "cotton" to quilters (to coin a phrase!!!) So, that takes care of that for us. Edie

sandrabrueggeman 09-21-2011 03:49 AM

I was in a Walmart yesterday, in Portsmouth, Virginia, and they told me that they weren't going to get material in at all. Bummers.

ljs317 09-21-2011 04:30 AM

No fabric in Uniontown Pa yet! But am ever hopeful! We used to have a hugh dept.

SEGASAL 09-21-2011 04:38 AM

I guess I am the lucky one....my walmart in Saukville,WI has always had a fabric dept....and there is always someone around to cut the fabric....the bad part they are doing remodeling and the store is a total mess so for now I try not to go there.....but from what I have heard...all of the Wal=Marts are supposed to be getting all of the fabric back...

Barbshobbies 09-21-2011 04:41 AM

I don`t believe WM helped themselves at all in our area. They now have what a clerk told me, "A small supper WM" What I don`t understand is why bother with the cost of over 20 registers and never more than 2 with some one to check you out. By the time they call some one to help, the people are sorry they came in. Also I worked retail for yrs, and will never know why they push over sized displays of every thing, That means less variety. In the end they so much of one item they have to clearance it out. Remember how the old Mom & Pop stores had every thing? Very seldom had a sale and it was a depression? But there was always a clerk!

shihtzulover 09-21-2011 04:43 AM

WalMart DOES have their fabric back, however, I have noticed their prices have gone up anywhere from .50 per yard on up to over $1.50 per yard. What a bummer.

smagruder 09-21-2011 04:52 AM

I got an ad in the paper last sunday that they have returned fabric to 2,000 of their stores. One here, has a very small dept. and I have yet to get to the other one which WAS larger in the past. Good luck. What I saw at the small walmart was nothing I would want.

Sallyflymi 09-21-2011 04:55 AM

Seems like Walmart needs a few more calls, emails, to get them thinking straight again. They sure are flighty about this.

Amythyst02 09-21-2011 05:00 AM

We have it back at the closest Wal Mart to us, it seems as if every time I go in the shelves get fuller, now if they would get someone to assist you, things would be great.

lucy78 09-21-2011 05:03 AM

we r not going 2 get ours back, the manager said[ha ha] and it was in the paper , that we were.not very nice....tennessee

Ms Kay 09-21-2011 05:35 AM

We only have precuts, and that is all we are going to have. I was buying some the other day and when I got to the register they were all marked down.
A 25.00 pkg cost me 6.26. 10.00 pkg cost me 2.50. Fat quarters were .99 cost me .31 cents. 6.97 pkg. Cost me 1.74. 5.97 per pgg cost me 1.49

4.97 pkg cost me 1.24. I had a blast and went back for more the next day and bought tons more. Was talking to the woman who works in that dept and she has no idea why they are on sale, even the new stuff coming in is marked down. What a shock the front office will be in for when they realize what is happening :-)

ljptexas 09-21-2011 05:37 AM

The 1 closest to me brought back some but not as much as before. Not many bolts & as many at low price.

  ;) ;)

Quilter7x 09-21-2011 05:37 AM

There are lots of threads on this recently. Just do a search for "WalMart" and you'll find some. (you might want to add their name to your topic so others can find this thread)

Tinabodina 09-21-2011 05:39 AM

I was in De Pere Wisconsin yesterday and went to their Walmart. Their fabric section is huge. Nothing like what we have here in Appleton. Maybe something that is coming to Appleton.

grannypat7925 09-21-2011 05:55 AM

One of our 2 Walmarts is supposed to have fabric back. I will be checking it out later today!

Iraxy 09-21-2011 06:03 AM

Wal-Mart makes me nuts. They are a HUGE buying force and could really get some classy, good quality fabric. BUT THEY DON'T. Imagine some fabric company getting the WM account? They would wet their pants to keep them satisfied. But does WM do it? NO! The WM in Mineola, TX says that they (the staff there who sews) do not get a chance to pick. They are just told what is going to show up. Their fabric is very loose weave, made in China, and not pretty at all. So depressing that a big company like that with such a BIG clientele (US), does not get it. I am giving up on them and let them quit selling fabric if they are going to sell junk. :(

Cindysue2 09-21-2011 06:03 AM

Most are getting it back here in Houston. I lady that worked there for 20+ years said they had received too many complaints and all stores were getting it back.
