How frustrating. I hope you find the problem soon.

ok here is what I use: Groz-Beckert

There are some other numbers too on the packet but they don't match your numbers

You will have to go to a dealer for them. Joanns and most quilt shops don't carry them.

My Pfaff grand quilter is very particular about how the thread is coming off the spool - if I have the thread leader too high, I'm breaking thread all the time - it can only be about an inch above the spool. Finally found a sweet spot that seems to be working...seem to have to find a way that when it's unwinding off the spool, it's not jerking at all.

Are you putting the thread through all 3 holes on the metal bar? If you are try only putting through 2 holes and skip the middle on. Using all 3 can make the thread too tight.

I put the thread through the first and third guide only.

I will look for these needles today. I will call some shops around here then look on the internet. Thanks.

Never thought about that. Since they are made by the same company, this may be part of the problem. Thanks, I will try that also.

I want to thank you for all your help with my mega quilter. I completely took the quilter off the frame today and started from the beginning. I set everything for first time set up. I reloaded a sample quilt to test and finally found the right tension after 3 hours, along with the thread this monster likes and a needle it will tolerate until the german needles come in (I ordered them today). I think I have everything under control for now. When I took everything apart, I found dirt and thread wrapped around the rollers which could have caused drag and could have caused the thread to break. I don't know. If the breakage continues, I will take the cruise contol off.
Thanks again for all your help.

I tried your suggestion and you are right, I had the thread leader too high. Thanks, I would have never throught of that one. I put a piece of tape on it so it will not vibrate and move.
