I am working on a piano key boarder, using adding machine tape. Working with Farmer's Market fabric.

noveltyjunkie 09-27-2013 01:58 PM

I haven't started yet, but I hope to do some more wonky log cabin blocks for a stalled quilt, and maybe some granny squares too. Looking forward to photos!!

AngeliaNR 09-27-2013 02:02 PM

I put together nine patches for a D9P. Got them cut into quarters--will sew them back together tomorrow, I hope.

Had planned to spend the whole day sewing. Putting on binding and tying off ends on a baby quilt and making a crazy patchwork scissor holder but....... one of those days had car trouble so had to cancel my sewing class (therefore no scissor holder)plus unexpected visitors. Still I have sewn binding onto quilt and just need to tie off ends. Am going out tomorrow but hope to get some supplies in so I can make some curtains for nursery of my grandson due in 6 weeks. Also need to sew out label and tie off ends of double sized quilt which is a 60th birthday present for my sister (her birthday was in June!!!). Sunday is going to be the day that I finally get my sewing room sorted. My husband has said he will help me and I am determined to finish the task.

Sounds like everyone is nicely busy or planning on being so. I finished cutting out the pieces for the second flimsy I hope to finish this weekend. It's called "Afternoon Delight". I need to take a break and finish writing a sermon for Sunday, but I'll be back on either later this evening or tomorrow morning.

Okay I just talked to my boss....she said since it was slow and I really wanted to go home I could leave 15 minutes early. Some times she is such a nasty person to me but today she was nice. But she did say, come Monday I had to really concentrate on getting my paperwork done. I said sure sure...anything to get home.

So tonight I am going to dig out the shams that go with my Bali Wedding Star. Tomorrow in the am I have Joann's and some other running to do, then I have more UFO's to pull out.

Raggiemom 09-27-2013 03:02 PM

Ok, I'm done for the night. I finished piecing the strips for the Irish Chain quilt. I'll press them in the morning, then start sewing the blocks together. Thanks for keeping me company today! :) I'm headed upstairs to hopefully watch the Cincinnati Reds win.

mdall 09-27-2013 03:20 PM

Im in for the some of the weekend. The kids will be here for most of the weekend so not alot of alone time to devote but will be working on some farmers wife blocks for a block along. Will drop in every once in a while to update and post pics. Everyone enjoy their weekends and put on the creative hats.

RedGarnet222 09-27-2013 03:28 PM

How nice all of your projects are! I am finishing up my spa gift bags and doing the hand sewing the binding on four multi- blue and white rooster placemats. I had a blue and white check binding all finished on one and hated it. So off all four placemat bindings came today and I sewed on the new bindings. I hate the deconstruction part. But, it had to be done. I really hated the look!

grann of 6 09-27-2013 03:30 PM

Wow, everyone has done a great job. I forgot to check in, but have been sewing nearly all day. Got one top done, just have to border it. And another I am working on the borders. Will post pics tomorrow. But I am done for the night, gotta go rest my back.

Didn't get as far as I'd hoped, but had to stop and do some calculating and reconfiguring of backing and batting. My "assignment" was to make a quilt suitable for a teenage boy. I did get all the rows sewn together and the first 2 quilted. All in all, not too bad.

franc36 09-27-2013 07:07 PM

Spent the afternoon piecing blocks for a mystery quilt. This week's instructions were to make 84 blocks of one design and 84 blocks of another. My goal was to make the first 84 blocks today. I was able to accomplish that. Tomorrow, I will try to make the final 84 blocks then Sunday I can work on FMQ a quilt I am making for my granddaughter for Christmas.

I think I found the correct fabric it should come out of the dryer soon. So tomorrow I get to start adding the sashing, and putting the blocks together, hope to have it finished by the evening.

Unfortunately I do not have room for a design wall, mine is a design floor. I roll up the blocks around a tube and stick it in the closet.

petthefabric 09-27-2013 08:19 PM

It's after 9pm here. Got the sample for a LAQ panto class and started writing the description and supply list.

Got a drawing done for a Thanksgiving wall hanging. I'll get that put together tomorrow and post a picture then.

Think a hot bath is in order.

Unfortunately today will probably be the only day I get to join in, the rest of the weekend is full with other obligations. I cut everything for a new quilt, and got 3 1/2 blocks sewn :) Here is a peek

seamstome 09-27-2013 08:52 PM

No pic yet. Midnight and I just got all the pieces together for my UFO. Some times there is a reason u never finished!

noveltyjunkie 09-28-2013 12:08 AM

It's Saturday morning here and I need to get going! Inspired to read what everyone has been up to while I was sleeping. The baton passes to the East- maybe our Australian and New Zealand members have already been working all Saturday and are ready to rest? I wonder which members are closest to the International Date Line- who is out in the Pacific?

Kathi in PA 09-28-2013 02:45 AM

I am going to check out a local quilt shop today. Planning on getting the backing and border fabric for my DGS's quilt, backing for a log cabin quilt top, fabric for a baby quilt, printed treasures paper for a family reunion quilt and thread for my bobbins. After I get home will be finishing up a few things on my to-do list!! Whew!!!!!! Sunday going grocery shopping and the rest of the day sewing...I have off work Monday so hopefully most of the day can be spent in my quilting/sewing room.

kyquiltlover1942 09-28-2013 02:48 AM

I will be finishing the quilting on a UFO I started in 1990. Then on to my fall wall hanging, I am thread painting for my kitchen wall.

carolaug 09-28-2013 03:04 AM

I finished a quilt last weekend. Now I am having a really hard time figuring out what I want to make next. Many times I will just jump on to my postage stamps when I can think of what to do. So I may do that...hmmm...

georgiamarbles 09-28-2013 04:04 AM

I first have to go to my grandson's soccer game...then...LET THE QUILTING BEGIN! I will be working on a memory quilt for a neighbor's baby who was still born last spring...she ask me to take some of his clothing and recieving blankets shereceived at her baby shower and make a quilt. I am so honored that she ask me to do this... It will be a bittersweet time for us all. I will start with the center of a large terryclothe towel with his name (Benjamin) embroidered on it to place in the center and then work my way out from there . will post pics soon.

Belfrybat 09-28-2013 05:03 AM

Great projects started, everyone! I sewed the four patches and flying geese units for the "Afternoon Delight" I'm working on. Some of the geese are flying wonky so I need to make a decision whether to unpick and re-sew. I was so tempted to make them a bit oversize so I could trim down, but decided to stay with the pattern instructions this first time. Won't do that again! After getting morning chores done, I'll be back later this morning to sew again.

I plan to work on designs for a Mandala quilt. went to a showing of her methods and would like to try at least to make a table topper or something little to see if I can piece all the small pieces.

Neesie 09-28-2013 05:54 AM

I'm working on a Rail Fence type quilt. It started out as a typical Rail Fence (in basket weave arrangement) but I'm tweaking the proportions, to work with some fabric, from my stash.

SewExtremeSeams 09-28-2013 06:07 AM

I discovered a bag of flannel squares cut into 3", 5" and 8" squares yesterday so I started randomly piecing them together. They are coming along nicely. I watched a video on how to use my new ruffler attachment. I am excited to begin on some samples today. Everyone's photos look great. It's fun to make progress!

Quilter7x 09-28-2013 06:38 AM

I'm in! I will be finishing a few table toppers and will figure out what else to make after those are done.

This morning I started quilting the top I'm working on, but forgot to change my top thread to what I was using on the other dark sections of the quilt. Oh, well, I'll continue using the lighter thread until I start quilting the corners. I'll post a photo when I'm done with the corners.

Here is my latest project, taken entirely too long to complete. I ran out of the blue and light blue in the star blocks, so could only make 12 blocks. It was supposed to be a stash buster for charity, and as it turned out it busted 2 fabrics from my stash. I'm not a lover of flying geese or HSTs or QSTs. I don't like making them, but I love the outcome.

Raggiemom 09-28-2013 08:49 AM

OK, I have the Irish Chain strips pressed and ready to cut. However, I got distracted and cut out the pieces for the Toy Story quilt next. So I think I'll start working on the 4 patch blocks next and then cut the IC strips to start assembling those blocks. I made stuffed shells and Pillsbury French bread for lunch. While that was cooking, I put together a tuna fish salad for supper and made no-bake cookies for DH's lunch next week. Of course, I don't know I they'll last that long! But now I should be able to quilt until supper. Glad to see there are several people working along with me. Everyone's projects looks great :)

mdall 09-28-2013 08:51 AM

Time for lunch and folding some laundry, a few more blocks finished so far. Have four more and one is paper piecing, ughhhhhhh. Then onto scrappy. Be back in a bit once lunch, dishes again, and laundry folded.

junipergal 09-28-2013 08:58 AM

I am working on a lap quilt for the GD, the camera is on charge.

Masufa. I love this pattern. You have inspired me to pull of the container storing several units I have completed and did not get back to it. Beautiful job
