OMG .... totally a OBW addict! that's what got me quilting a couple years ago and I love them ... am branching out a little, but have so many pieces of fun fabrics to do other OBW and some already to go for my next one ... I could go on ... not for everyone ... but I'm really not interested in very many other types because I love them so much

ooooohhhh.. You did the octagon instead of the hexagon. I keep wanting to try that one, but I don't have enough fabric for 8 repeats.. so need to go buy more... LOL

I've done one hexagon and 10 octagons .... Love the artsyness (is that a word) with the smaller triangles ... but the hexagons are easier in the long run! I sometimes get really caught up in making sure everything is perfect, which we all know is just not possible!!!

Karen - I just love yours! The greater variation in color makes it more apealing to me.

Stack and Whack is a quilt design that looks like a keleidoscope when the blocks are sewn together.
It really is easier to have someone show you or take a class. It is real important for the effect that you line up repeats in the fabric so that it looks like there are several of the same image in each block.. hope that makes sense. There are specific ways to cut the repeats, line them up and sew them together. It's not really hard when you understand what they are trying to show you. I have done several, but if I haven't done one for a while, then I do have to go back and refresh my memory...maybe it's my old age..but it is so much fun seeing how they will look. I have a mirror that has a fold to it so I can preview fabric to see if I like how it would look... |
