My ex-husband hated when I worked on any of my crafts because he felt like I was ignoring him. He was one of these that constantly needed attention at all times. Even when I had the kids.

My boyfriend loves my quilting hobby. He has made many things for me in my Little Shop in my backyard. And I also took over one of the bedrooms in the house for all my sewing machines. I love woodworking projects just like him. We have built so many things together around the house. I also asked for a cabinet to house my fabrics. We ended up building this large cabinet that has over 20 baskets of fabric which I color coded majority of them. It turned out beautiful. I would post a picture but I'm not at home right now, I'm at work. :(

I think we all deserve our ME time and I am so glad that he understands and is right at my side when I decide to do things. Because I am there with him when he choses to hunt, fish and camp. I am so blessed to have found this person. I think he's a keeper.

I can't pass this post w/out adding my brag on my DH:) He definitely supports my habit (in more ways than one) He has even learned to use the Gammill, bless his heart. His 1st quilting was a lap for his mom, who has since passed, his 2nd his dad. He was very proud of both, as he should be.
He is usually very quiet & not outgoing at all - yet when traveling he not only stops at (nearly) every LQS in the area, but talks w/the owners & clerks letting me browse as long as I want. After 41 yrs, he is a keeper! And that is the understatement of the year!!

I'm very fortunate to have a hubby that loves what I do. He teases me in jest that one day he'll find me in an avalanche of fabric yelling for help.. lol

We re-did the old existing sewing room as it was my late mother-in-laws sewing room. I picked up quilting shortly after she passed away. I often think shes my lil angel whispering ideas in my head.lol....I bet in heaven shes still quilting up a storm... !! Now mind you, Ive never sewed a button on before let alone run a sewing machine. But I woke up one morning and decided I wanted to make a quilt. So there I was 4 in the morning asking permission from hubby to use his moms things.. He thought I was crazy given the time of day, but told me to go have fun. That was almost two years ago. My dSIL, was mad, mad, mad that I was using her mothers stuff, it was no secret however, (even most of moms sisters thought it was great and how mom would of loved to teach me) she decided to put an end to it. She came storming in and stripped the room completely clean, removed wood shelving on the walls and everything. She took it all..Good news tho, was it was a clean slate to make this once guest room/sewing room into, my home inside my home- now aka "Moms Quilt maker room" as my lil girl calls it today..lol .. Whoo Hoo ! Hubby went to work and made me my desk, my ironing tables- have 3 of them lol! He made me A nice sized 30x 50 cutting table and found three bookcases for my fabric bolts & stash on three of the walls.. It was an expensive month as I had nothing- no machine-no fabric-no notions...and yet there were no complaints from him.. When we travel he make detours so that I can hit fabric stores along the way.. When I come out empty handed, which very rarely happens, hes disappointed and sys well maybe the next one you'll find something..Last year he surprised me with a GO! for my birthday with tons of dies.. I think to date hes gotten me all but a handful for birthdays & holiday gifts.

I love my room, I love that he loves that I love my room.. I often hide in there, not for any reason other than Ive got a quilt idea in my head and I wanna get it going. No complaints on the days when I forgot all about making dinner.. He waits patiently till I emerge.. We have our cuddle time in the eves, watching recorded shows but when they are over I head back in my room.. He smiles and tells me... "Mom would be so proud !"

As I read all these wonderful things, I continue to be thankful for my wonderful man! He is a stamp collector and I go to many stamp shows all over the US. We track all the quilt shops in the towns we go through. I have the big quilt travel guide. We are leaving for Little Rock tomorrow and he tells me to give us an extra day of travel time for the quilt shops. He bought my Janome 6600 for Christmas when they first came out and hid it for 3 months in his stamp cabinet! He loves to go to quilt shops and visit with the ladies and if they offer him coffee, they have a friend forever!

In every family I think you have a saver and a spender. My hubby is a spender he went with me to the fabric store and I saw something that was out of my price range he offer to buy it for me. But it would have may it very tight at the end of the mouth. So I have to put my foot down and say no thank you. He will builds any I ask him to. An believe me his honey to do list is long.

I too, have a DH, but he stills has his moments. At the moment I am lucky enough that he is gone during the week, so I can quilt/sew as much as I like. That way when he is home on the weekends, we spend time together doing other stuff. So it's been working.
Now, as of this past Saturday, the house has sold, so we've been looking for a "our" new house with a quilting room, but to also include a garage with a small shop area.
He really doesn't have a hobby, but I am working on that. He was married to his late wife for 29 years, and she did some crocket and cross-stitch. But these were things that she could sit in the livingroom while he watches TV. I can't just sit and watch TV, so I go down to my room and design and create quilts and clothes. And my room also includes a TV, VCR and DVD. So on occassion he'll join me while I sew.
He likes the results, special when I make him a new western shirt. So there is always room for some give and take. We've been married 3 years now and I think he has started thinkin about making sure the new house has that special room........or it would be a disaster in the dining or livingroom and possibly the garage. Anyway as life goes on, I still have time for some training...............

My DH is very supportive of my quilting also. He is a graphics professional and gives me some very good advice. He will be taking pictures for me for this board in the IRR III that I am doing.

Like many others, my DH is very supportive of my sewing and quilting also. If it weren't for his woodworking skills, I would still be sewing on an old retro kitchen table, with all my fabric in cardboard boxes. This winter we are planning a kitchen remodel, so that means, with a lot of help from DH & DSs, a few of the old cabinets will make their way to my sewing room! Two new rooms for the price of one!!! Yay!
