It's funny you ask that, Quilterella. My sewing room is painted a beautiful shade of pink called "Cinderella"

I always gravitate toward greens or yellow (never together). I read a research article that said that people who grow up in yellow rooms (I assume bright yellow) tend to be more aggressive (that explains my sister). Green is an emotionally soothing color which is why schools went from blackboards to green boards.

You know, I replied earlier that white or off white is a better choice, but after reading all your input about yellow and butter cream, etc., I stand corrected!! I'll be sure to paint my room a color too!
I'm originally from WA State, Whidbey Island! Small world, huh? |
The people I bought my house from painted the room I'm using as my QR painted it a very soft, very light aqua. I probably wouldn't have picked it but LOVE IT. The trim is painted white. Every time I walk into the room I feel happy. The color makes me feel good.

My sewing room is a pale lavender. It is light and cheerful. I think any light color that you like will work fine.

I painted my sewing room a bright lime green. It faces south and has 1 window. I feel so good when I sit in there and sew. I think it is like being in a bower. It might not be for everyone, but I love it.

My sewing room is going to be a very pale peach with white trim. I can't wait for it to be done!

My sewing room faces west and had two large double hung windows in it - it is painted with Sherwin Williams "Filtered Sun" which is a light/medium golden yellow - I love it! It is warm and welcoming especially in the cold winter months here in Michigan. I have daylight light bulbs in the overhead fixture but usually sew in the daytime and so the windows provide good light to work by as my sewing machine is right next to them. Being we have a large overhang on the house and a big tree outside, I don't get strong sun in the windows until late in the day.

I absolutely LOVE your colors! I just may use them in my room when we get it added to the house!
|
You should start by taking into consideration how much natura light the room gets - and then what makes you feel like you and the room are one - to me the most important thing question is not what color but what maks me wnat to be in this room and let my creative mind go free - good luck with your choice
