Don't remember where I learned this:
cut 6 inches wide. fold in half and press sew 1 inch seam on wrong side fold around to front and top stitch This gives a 1 inch wide binding! |
2 1/2 for me. I sew it to the back, then turn to the front. I use a decorative machine stitch to attach to front.
I cut mine at 2 1/4. I think on my next quilt I'm going to experiment with different widths.
2.5" here as well.
1 3/4 or 2"
2.25 works for me. Two and a half is just to big.
Two inch. Sometimes if the quilt is very light weight, I pack very thin slices of batting into the binding to create a nice firm edge. Supposedly, these firm edges wear longer than flimsy ones.
2 1/4" works well for me.
2", I just personally like the look!

My sister told me about it and you sew it to the front, and then fold it to the back and stitch in the ditch on the front, catching the back. My sister pins in the ditch on the front, making sure that the back is pulled over enough. Does anyone use this method-and if so, what width do you cut it and what seam allowance do you use? I'm nervous to try it for some reason.
