I'm working on my granddaughter's quilt. I bought 2 templates to do the squares and can't decide which to use. The block size is 8". The circle is 7", heart is 8". Which do you like better?
The circle The heart More so you can see the blocks |
I think I would use both ....every other block. Be sure to show us your finished quilt:)
I like the circle best, but I'm sure your quilt will look great whatever pattern you choose!
I, too like the circle the best as I am not much for hearts. But the idea of using both is a good one, especially since it is for your GD!!!
both since you have them. I like seeing that done in quilts.
I agree with using both! It will be stunning when you are done.
I vote for the circle. Then it won't matter which way the quilt is on the bed. It will be beautiful! Great design and beautiful quilt.
Using the heart will make th quilt 'directional'. There is only one way to place it on the bed. If this is ok, I'd go with them both!
I think you're in a win/win situation here. Both are lovely and would look great either alone or used together. If I had to choose just one though, for me it would be the circle. I don't really know why since I adore hearts, but something about it just seems to really fit your quilt. :-D
I like the circle.
I am partial to hearts so that would be my vote :)
I picked the heart, but agree about the directional comment. Maybe the circle would be better.
This is my thought, also. It looks terrible when someone puts the quilt the wrong way!

hearts, because granddaughter will know all 'love' you have for her
I think both would be beautiful!
I like the circles. But the hearts will give a directional feel to the quilt.
I like the way the heart fills the square better. It also sends message of love. Beautiful quilt!

Thank you, thank you...... I've decided to use both. I'll put the hearts on the edges along the border with the points of the hearts pointing toward the border. I'll put the circles in the body of the quilt. That way, there won't be any direction and will look like the hearts border the quilt.
You all are terrific when a question is put before you. |
circle i would not use both unless they filled the space the same. The heart fills the space more than the circle so to my opinion would look unbalanced Also I believe the circle is more compatiable with the patchwork

the heart since it's for your granddaughter. but I also like the idea of using both in alternating blocks. it is a beautiful quilt.
I vote for either the circle, or both - but not just hearts.
I like the circle best.
I would go with both!
I like them both, but I LOVE your quilt!

If you use multiple hearts there is no reason why they couldn't be turned various directions. For example, you could start in the center and point them to each of the four corners. The quilt would look fine from each direction. I'm not sure that's what I'd do, but it's a possibility. I like both designs and would have trouble choosing.
Both !
LOve your quilt frame.Bought or home made?
I like the heart since its for your DGD
both will be beautiful, fabulous quilt.
I like the idea of both. What you could do to solve the heart direction problem is rotate the heart one turn each time you do it so some of them will be the right way no matter how the quilt is turned. It does help to make it wear more evenly. I love what you did with the other pieces. You are an echo quilter like me. If the quilt will be on a bed that has sunlight hit it being able to rotate the quilt will help it fade evenly.
The circle would be my choice because it compliments the circles in the printed fabric.
That is a stunning quilt! I'm sure your GD will love it which ever one you choose. I vote for circles.
If the quilt is square, I like the circle best. Otherwise the heart.
