I have an "older" Janome and a 6600. I use it for piecing and am just working slowly with it for quilting.

bet there would be a way to run a light by the treadle.....would that be way cool or what....actually i know exactly how that could work...be right back

momto5 10-04-2011 03:16 PM

I have 11 and just bought a new Janome 6600 today...she joins seven Singers of various ages, the oldest being a dame from 1907;as well as a Bernina 1008, a Husqvarna/Viking Platinum, a Baby Lock serger and the queen of the house, my Gammill Premier Plus. Wouldn't take anything for any of them...what's that? You know where there's another old babe who needs a home? Call me!!!

open it up and check on the inside....actually when you clean the lint out of under the presser foot plate check for printing on the underside of the plate

.I have a Pfaff 7570 which i love a feather weight which I do not use as mush as i should and a Viking SE which I do not like and am trying to sell it. I also have a new baby lock serger. Had several vintage machines but sold them recently. Am looking for a new machine but can not decid on a Pfaff vision or a Baby Lock Ellisimo

helenmarie 10-04-2011 04:04 PM

I think I have 30, but a dozen of them are toys or toy-sized. One Bernina Artista, singer 15, 20, 66, 99, 101, 127, 128, 201 (2 of these, both in Queen Anne cabinets with benches, 221 (4 of those-Featherweights), 301 (3 of those, 2 in cabinets and 1 in the trapezoidal case), 319, 401 and 503 (the 501 keeps eluding me)and a Genie. Then there's the Grasshopper (Elna) and a Sears model in brown with a godzilla finish that came in a great rock maple cabinet circa 1940! Also have a redeye in a simple oak parlor cabinet and 2 other treadles plus a hand crank machine that was once in a treadle cabinet. I stopped buying machines long ago, when I couldn't find room for another! I use them as end tables, desks, and the maple one holds up my microwave in the kitchen!

quilter41 10-04-2011 04:08 PM

I have a Viking Lily & a Designer 1 - Viking can't be beat in my book.
Baby Lock Quilters Pro - Use on my PC Quilter
Pfaff 6270 - Love IDT
Singer Featherweight - Classes
White Serger - Haven't used in 10 years

Campbell34 10-04-2011 04:46 PM

I have a new 830 Bernina with the embroidery abilities, an older 930 bernina , a 334DS Bernina surger, 3 dometop singers,a singer 221 replica , A Janome 600 and a older singer treadle, my husband put the belt on it today , he refinished it for me last winter. It is a focal point as you come into my living room,I use the 830 every day, the 930 for certain things when I am using the 830 for embroidery, and the dometops are all on display now on my potshelves, the Janome and the replica are for classes, I can't even lift the 830 Bernina , it is so heavy and has to stay in one place. I feel so blessed,

lheartsl 10-04-2011 04:56 PM

Only my kenmore.....

MerryQuilter 10-04-2011 04:58 PM

So happy with my one 11 year old Bernina

Tennessee Suzi 10-04-2011 05:01 PM

18 and counting

martha jo 10-04-2011 05:03 PM

I have a Featherweight, a Jem Gold, a Brother 1500 straight stitch, a Brother 6500 embroidery, an older Bernette serger (4 thread), a new Janome serger, a 1130 Bernina,a 1030 Bernina and a Elna quilters machine. I gave a Bernina 830 Record away to a friend who lost everything in a house fire and a treadle to an ex daughter in law. I know the new machines are nice but I am happy with my old ones. I miss my old 830 and wish I had gone and bought her a new machine. Nothing makes a beautiful satin stitch like the 830.

ssuzz 10-04-2011 05:05 PM

I thought I was overboard but I see ...not...singer touch and sew that is my workhorse 2 featherweights , a 27K Sphinx, a singer 99 and a 66. 2 treadles a White and a Singer and a couple I have not identified. A lightweight here ..

GrannyEm 10-04-2011 05:07 PM

I've got around 15 or 16

decky 10-04-2011 05:20 PM

I have a Bernina 830 and a 350 and those are the two I use most often. I also have a Janome serger, 2 lower end Janome sewing machines and 1 featherweight. I have just cleaned my sewing room and moved things around, so I want to use my featherweight more.

bmillet 10-04-2011 05:41 PM

I feel I don't belong in this forum. I only have an old Brother about 20 years old but still working. I think I need to update quickly

lynndianne 10-04-2011 06:04 PM

I am gradually trading up to better machines. I started with the Janome Heart Truth, which I then traded up a year later to the Quilter's Dream 3160. Called today and am trading up to the 6600 tomorrow morning. Our dealership will give me a full value trade in if you trade within a year or so of buying a machine. I hope I like the 6600; just needed a little more power.
Embarrassed to say I also own 5 Featherweights, a 301 and an Esante embroidery/sewing machine I bought used to make quilt labels and do names primarily for my grandson.
I just can't resist the FW machines; they're so darned cute! ONe is a 1947, a 1949, a 1951, a white 1964 and a Black 222 I bought on ebay from London. Made sure it had a 110 motor though. I think I'm addicted!!

Dee 10-04-2011 08:36 PM

I have 10.

sewbeadit 10-04-2011 11:09 PM

Well, I would be cheating because I collect sewing machines.lol Have over 100, use them off and on for fun. I have about 10 I use a lot. Newer Janome, old Viking, older white serger, newer Elna Serger, 5 featherweights, black, tan and white and one with the removable bed. Love them all.

CruisingStef 10-05-2011 01:51 AM

I'm a real slacker....all I have is the Husqvarna Emerald 116, but I just put the electronic Viking on layaway. I don't know a thing about using it, but when the time comes for me to be able start sewing with it, I plan on taking classes so they can show me how to use it.

coachmatthewsvhs 10-05-2011 03:04 AM

I have a Simplicity and a 1948 Singer (Unless I need a special stitch, I only use the Singer)

scrappy2 10-05-2011 03:56 AM

I have Janome 4000 that works like a horse. A Janome 9700 use mostly for embroidery work, Old 1946 singer in wood case, 1948 Singer in cabinet and a older babylock Serger which everytime I get it out its a learning thing all over again.

michelehuston 10-05-2011 04:37 AM

I know that I have way too many! Have a 2 Viking, 1 Viking Serger, A singer, a brother, an old Kenmore a white treadle and a Singer treadle. Getting cabinets redone on the treadle and will deecide which to keep. going to get brother and kenmore serviced then plan on selling. I don't have room for all of them! Fortunately most were given!

I have a Viking Quilt Designer 11, Bernina 1530, Janome Gem Platinum, 2 Janome Sergers. 2 Brother Embroidery, Mickey Mouse and Snoopy. I split these between FL where I live and NH where I summer.

writerwomen 10-05-2011 06:21 AM

theres not enough room to list them all. We restore machines so they come and go and we have a large inventory.
Some of my favorites are my personal machine the Pfaff 1475. For heavy duty I prefer to use other machines- Necchi BU, Husqvarna/viking 8, 19 , 21 and so on. Pfaff 130. Vintage singers-many kinds. Each has it's own personality and just about when I get used to it I have to say goodbye. But there is the secret joy of knowing there is another one to get to know.

matraina 10-05-2011 07:09 AM

Holy Toledo, where do you guys keep all those machines?

IAmCatOwned 10-05-2011 07:29 AM

I have a Bernina 440EQ (just bought last month) and a Brother Pacesetter 1000. I totally do not recommend the Brother. It is not at all suitable for quilting and I regret buying it, but it is good for piecing or other types of sewing. I plan to sell my Brother in future, but for now, it will be my machine for piecing classes.

ShabbyTabby 10-05-2011 12:36 PM

I have a Viking Lily 550 and a Baby Lock serger. I rarely use the serger anymore. I used it a lot when the granddaughters were toddlers making them little dresses and summer shorts. I just don't do any "clothes" sewing anymore so I use the Viking for everything. I have had my Viking for about 12 years and not one problem with it.

Joeysnana 10-05-2011 01:09 PM

Let's see....I started out with a Singer Curvy, then Brother Cs6000i, Janome 6600, FW 221, Brother SE 400 embroidery, Brother PE 770 for embroidery, and just got the Quattro 2. Oh, also have a Brother XL 2600i, bought for my little GS who quickly lost interest in sewing because I wouldn't let him take it apart!

AnnR 10-05-2011 03:05 PM

I have a Bernina 1130 (my very best friend), Babylock Imagine, Singer Featherweight, Pfaff 7550 and Bernette serger (inherited from my mother), Nolting Fun Quilter (which I hope to trade up to an Avante or Innovi midarm somtime in the near future).

Campbell34 10-05-2011 03:31 PM

Shabby Tabby, I have a Bernina surger, if you make shopping bags or purses it is a neat thing to finish the edges if they are quilted, I made one yesterday , finished the edges with the surger then bound it with bias tape, quick and easy :P

blueangel 10-05-2011 04:10 PM

That's a very nice machine! I used to sell new HV and Singers.
