I have a Brother Pacesetter NX600 that I love, a Viking Iris sewing/embroidery but I leave it set up just for embroidery. Really nice machine but everything extra is SO expensive for it....I also have a 1926 Singer Model 66 but it is just for display on top of my cabinets. Have to admit I have never even tried to use it.....sad....
I am saving up for a machine with a larger harp so machine quilting isn't such a pain for larger items. It will be awhile before I get it...

AshleyR 11-11-2011 06:42 PM

I have the cheapest Singer on the market (I think) that my husband snagged for $20. I have an Elna that's about 40 years old. And I have a Brother embroidery machine that I don't use and currently have on craigslist for sale for $200. I'd love to get my money back for that one.
I don't know what my dream machine is. I don't use machines that much. I've only had my sewing machines for a few months. They're both pretty decent machines, so I'm happy with them for now!
I haven't even spent $3000 on a car, couldn't imagine spending that much on a "toy"!!!

Buckeye Rose 11-11-2011 06:47 PM

I have a Janome 6600 and I love it! With the exception of a long arm quilter, I have what I need.

litacats 11-11-2011 07:25 PM

I have 4 brother machines and 2 bernina's.
1) a simple sewing machine with a few decorative stitches.
2) a quilting embroidery machine.
3) a longarm machine, (Not as long as I would like)
4) a brother overlocker
5) bernina zigzag industrial machine
6) bernina industrial overlocker.
Now I just need the time to be able to use them all. LOL

janquilts'ncrochets 11-11-2011 07:26 PM

I have a 20 year old computerized New Home ( now Janome). I love it and have no desire to replace it. Also own a red eye singer treadle, but haven't made anything on it yet.

jollyquilting 11-11-2011 07:29 PM

I have an Elna, love it, and a new Janome embroidery-sewing machine and enjoying the new experiences on it too.

lfstamper 11-11-2011 08:00 PM

I have Bernina 730 which I LOVE. Replaced my Kenmore about 6 years ago and have never looked back. I want a second Bernina so I can leave the embroidery unit set up and have one for straight sewing but have not decided which one.

txstitcher 11-11-2011 08:03 PM

Janome 6500 - bought used at my local sewing center/Janome dealership. LOVE this machine!

I had a Pfaff before but had nothing but trouble with it.

I'll always own a Janome.

QuiltnLady1 11-11-2011 08:17 PM

I have several machines -- none of them cost $3000, but since I bought them all new they were pricey (but worth it)
-- Elna Supra (I bought it new after DS was born) -- pretty much retired although I love the way it stitches
-- Janime Horizon 7700 -- main piecing machine
-- Juki on my frame
-- Janome 9700 for embroidery
-- Janome 3260 to take to class
I gave DD my 6500 -- loved that machine

margoee 11-11-2011 09:01 PM

Let's see.....
Bernina 200 E
Bernina 153
Brother (little lightweight guy)
1953 Singer Featherweight

Think I would like a Sweet Sixteen sit-down midarm machine.....want to test drive a friends first, then I will decide!!

aeble 11-12-2011 04:09 AM

I'm picking up my new Janome Horizon 7700 next weekend. I currently have a bottom of the line brother I purchased from Walmart in college.

I'm so excited, I've been counting the sleeps! Too bad naps don't count.

Buttons922 11-12-2011 04:35 AM

Bernina 830E
Have it
Hubby bought it for me. Went to CU for loan and it was worth it!!!

jitkaau 11-12-2011 04:39 AM

Pfaff that cost $7,000.00 + $2,500 for software and $1,000.00 for hoops and feet etc (it's the price you have to pay in some countries if you want a nice machine). Now that it has died, I would like to get a Bernina 830, except that it costs $13,000 + $2,500 for software...so it will remain a dream.

Jagsd3 11-12-2011 04:42 AM

I have loved reading this thread. Will be back with my list......

tutslady 11-12-2011 04:43 AM

I have a Viking and a Pfaff machine. Love them both, but would love to have one with knee control and auto cutting of thread. I think I'm getting too spoiled to ask for that.

quiltbuddy 11-12-2011 04:44 AM

Bernina 1030 that I bought used 15 years ago-love it, nothing sews like a Bernina. A perfect condition Singer 99 with all the attachments inherited from an aunt. Pfaff 1222E in like new condition that I found in a junk store for $10.00, what a workhorse that one is and the even feed foot is great, a Singer Featherweight, and my latest addition is a Janome Horizon that I also love. Unless I seriously get into FMQ I think I'm done collecting. Every machine has it's strong points, that's why you need so many, right?

Nona 11-12-2011 05:09 AM

I have an assortment. Two featherweights, Viking mega quilter, Spartan, Singer 99, Pfaff 2340, Pfaff 102 (treadle),Kenmore (1945 model) and I just bought a 630 Brother to lean to embroidery. All except te Pfaff102 gets regular use. I have them all set up with different tread in them and use them as I need that color thread. None are named. At my stage of the game, I am lucky to remember the brands.

Texas_Sue 11-12-2011 05:24 AM

I have a Bernina 430 QE and love it and I have a Feather Weight that sews very nicely. I also have Singer Quantum that also embroiders, but I don't use it. I also have a Handiquilter Sweet Sixteen sit down quilting machine. I haven't done much on it except practice, but I love the way it quilts.

Who can actually afford to buy the ones that are over $3000.00?

I have a Juki TL98Q and a Kenmore for when I need more than a straight stitch.
The Juki is the machine that I want and I certainly cannot afford a machine for $3K.

Shayna 11-12-2011 05:47 AM

Brother 3000. Don't know anyone else say they have this one.

CarrieC 11-12-2011 05:49 AM

I have a Bernina 440 QE and I love it. I have a workhorse older Singer (only used to sew teddy bears as the fur and leather are hard on a sewing machine). I also have a Juki midarm that I'm just starting to work with on my quilting frame. I gave away a beautiful viking to my DD and I gave away a beautiful older solid metal Singer to other DD (she loves vintage things). Both use them and love them.

I have the machines I want.

I can't do the long arm at this time - we are preparing to either retire in the next 10 years or take an overseas assignment. BUT I have a savings account for my eventual long arm!

veryvirginia 11-12-2011 05:56 AM

The wife of the husband who bought a hand made scroll saw and took over the garage (my sewing room) as his workshop.

decky 11-12-2011 06:00 AM

I have a Bernina Series 8 (830), Bernina 350, Janome Serger (low end), 2 low end Janome sewing machines, and 2 Featherweights (a 1934 and a 1948, they are both work and have a beautiful stitch). At this late date of my life, I decided that I would get what I want.

maryel 11-12-2011 06:13 AM

2 Vikings, a D1 and a Lily, and the newest addition is my girl Pfaff Quilt Expression 4.0 which far exceeds and of the others! I quilt and sew mostly on my Pfaff and I LOVE the built in walking foot. Wish I would have gotton the Pfaff in the first place!

Kathy is in stitches 11-12-2011 06:39 AM

Brother SQ9000

tallchick 11-12-2011 06:41 AM

I have a cheap Brother CS8080PRW from wally world and a Janome 6500. I like them both- I would like a dedicated embroidery machine but for now I am happy with what I have and have no plans to add another anytime soon; besides I have no room for anything more!!

pflum1 11-12-2011 07:10 AM

I have a Bernina 830, Pfaff 1473, older brother, Singer ?, can't remember the #, 9 black featherweight and 1 green/white featherweights, 2 treadle, older Singer industrial and I'm sure I forgot some of them, but they are in the closet or our other house. I don't need anymore machines, I just need time to use them. I find sewing machines are like cars, each one is different and better for certain things.

quiltinglady-1 11-12-2011 07:39 AM

I have so many sewing machines, I'm ashamed, but my 6600 Janome is my favorite.

I also have a Brother machine, not sure about the series number, and have had it for years. Before that I had a machine in a cabinet I got at Sears. (Showing my age.) But recently I got enough money and purchased a Janome. It was on sale for $450, more in my price range.

My sister has several vintage machines (including an antique from the 1860's), a Viking and two Nolting longarm machines.

One of my neices has a Viking and is "upgrading". :)

Quilting runs in the family.

mosquitosewgirl 11-12-2011 08:00 AM

Janome Horizon 7700 - for sewing and quilting / Juki Pearline Serger
Perfectly happy with her/them...someday would like to add a long arm quilter
While I'm worth it, I'm not sure I could spend more than $3000 on a machine...I had a hard time with the $1900 I paid for my Horizon.

wrobocop 11-12-2011 08:03 AM

I also have the Viking Sapphire and I love it!

Doreen 11-12-2011 08:06 AM

I have a Bernina 440, Viking Mega Quilter, Featherweight, Singer XL 400 for embroidery, Janone Memory Craft and 2 others. I would like a bether embroidery machine don't know which one.

yayaquilts 11-12-2011 08:11 AM

I have a Pfaff Quilt Expression 4.0 and love it. It is the machine I wanted and my hubby bought for me for my birthday in June.

littlenell7777 11-12-2011 09:43 AM

I have the Bernina 200 with the embroidery attachment. Just love it. This was my retirement gift to myself. My friend gave me a Singer Featherweight. (She already had one and someone gave her another one). Then I have a HuskyStar.

mshawii 11-12-2011 10:18 AM

I have two Pfaff's. A 7550 and Expressions .04, a Featherweight 1945, a slant needle Singer and a Centennial model Singer(not sure of the model on either one. All three sew so nice! I do all the maintenance on them. The Pfaffs have to go into the shop because they are electronic.

Wunder-Mar 11-12-2011 01:29 PM

I have a Bernina 180E and a Featherweight - and an inexpensive serger - I need just these three as they do just what I need.

Redcat 11-12-2011 01:44 PM

I have a Bernina 730 and 1630 and my Viking that I have had for a long time that I like and still use along with a featherweight that stays in the motor home.

sewingladydi 11-12-2011 05:04 PM

I have a Bernina 820 (was a surprise 30th wedding anniversary gift), a Viking #1 (about 15 years old) and a 30 year old Kenmore. Won't give any of them up.

Fantasize about a long arm, but maybe would settle for the frame set up for the Bernina.
