And contrary to others beliefs (BKinCO) I do have a couple that use electricity but nothing newer than 1963. Billy |
Pfaff 7570. Love that IDT (built in walking foot).
I have been piecing on my new featherweight (also have a Janome 4000 that I usually piece on) and quilt (or attempt to) on my Janome 6500.
At my house in ON I have a Janome 4023, and for classes I have pink Kenmore which is a Janome Jem machine. I also have a Singer Genie for machine quilting cause it can handle the bulk of the quilt, the Kenmore can't.
At my mom's in SK I just bought a Brother LS 2125 which sews good, and I will likely quilt on her Singer Stylist in a cabinet that she got when she moved to Canada in 1965. |
I love my 7 year old Juki TL98E for piecing and my Sapphire 850 for decorative stitches and free motion quilting. I use the Juki for FMQ, too.
I use my Juki TL98E for both my piecing and my quilting - love it.
Bernina 1030, non-computerized, about 20 years old
Jem Gold Jem Platinum Bernina is the workhorse, but I use all of them for everything. |
I use my new Brother SE350 for everything!
I use both my Bernina 630 and my 830 for piecing, but mostly the 630. I quilt on an APQS Millennium.
I use my Bernina 160 most, but also the Bernina 180 and Brother ex660, forerunner of the 6000i
I do most of my sewing on my Bernina 1260. I have a featherweight that I use sometimes, but I love my Bernina too much to not use it every chance I get.
My Bernina 440QE for piecing,,...and my Baily 15 for quilting...
I have a Kenmore and a Riccar 414.
I have been using the riccar more since I got it. It sews nicer then my kenmore |
Brother CS6000i - except it started thumping real loud on the right side of the machine and the thumping even made the handwheel bump. So now it's in getting looked at. I miss it.
I have a Singer 66-18 that I picked up at an estate sale for $15... and it sews great. I use it for my piecing/quilting. Her name is Helen.
Piecing: I prefer to use my Elna 7200 but will use my Singer Quantum Futura CE-200 if the Elna is being serviced. I also have my original machine, a Euro Pro Denim Delux that I take on vacations with me and piece with it.
Quilting: I used my Elna 7200 until just recently and will continue to use it for small projects. Bed size quilts will be handled by my new-to-me Voyager 17 SLR. |
I use my Bernina 430E for everything. I love my machine! I also have a machine that is 39 years old, it is an Elgin Model 2468. It belonged to my mom. I used it to piece my first 3 quilts. It is a workhorse. I will set it up in my sewing room as soon as I finish setting my room up.
I have had a Pfaff 1475 that I wore out. I also have a 1473 that I use to take quilt retreats and classes. But my new machine is a Pfaff Creative 4.0. I just love it. Only Pfaffs for me.
I have a Singer inspiration and I'm eye balling a treadle singer in my in-laws attic that's JUST sitting there. I think it needs some love at my house. LOL
I do my piecing (and bow tucks totes) with a CS6000i. I must say I sure have gotten a lot of miles out of this inexpensive machine from Walmart. I haven't done any machine quilting but would love to know if other who have this machine use it for free motion quilting. I tried it on a scrap and it didn't turn out so good. I had to settle for straight lines :?

I have a Pfaff I do everthing on. Love it
My Bernina 630
I have 2 - Juki TL98-QE machines I use, 1 - I have used for a while, other is newer and a back up. I am going to start quilting on the newest one and piece on the older one. Great machines, I usually do FMQ, they have large throats.
I use my Feather weight, Singer 223 and just got on e-bay a Singer 500 and Singer 301. Just love those older machines.
I piece on my Baby Lock Espire. Love it!!! also have an Elna Quilter's Dream but it squeaks too loud to use.

I have a Viking 830 for quilting and piecing. Also, a little Elna #1 grasshopper for piecing which I take with me on trips to my mom's. All you people who have featherweights don't know what you are missing! The Elna has a lot more room in the throat both vertically and horizontally. No more burning my hand on the light bulb! (By the way, my very first machine as a child was a featherweight so I have a lot of experience on them also.)
