The Supreme Slider. When I use this thing my machine skips stiches like mad. When I don't use it my machine works wonderfully. So I wasted $30.

Darn! I just bought one of those because I can't cut a straight line. Haven't tried it yet - it was expensive, too!

Boy, all this is really informative! When I was new to quilting I thought I needed every new notion that came along...now that I am more experienced I find that the "basics" are what I use the most!
Years ago (before Gypsy Grippers) I bought a suction-cup handle for my rulers...and quickly found out it was more trouble than help. My favorite notion is a little thread nipper that has a notch in one blade, making it a great little ripper, too. I tied it to my FMQ frame with a ribbon to keep it handy! |
Sorry - above message was about the big plastic squares with the long slits for rotary cutting.
I would agree about the Dritz basting tool. Such a good idea, but it broke pretty quick, even after it didn't work some of the time. I also didn't like the pinking wheel for my rotary cutter. |
And of course, how could I forget the sticky seam guide that you put on the sewing machine that left sticky stuff that I am still trying to remove (oil didn't work).

What in the world is a purple thang? Sounds interesting but I sure would like to know what it is and what it does. Thanks, Linda

I have a bunch of different marking pencils and none of them work all that well if I really need to see the marks. I asked at a LQS and the man there really surprised me with his answer. He said that I would save a lot of money if I went to a craft store or Wally World and bought Crayola WASHABLE colored pens that children use in school. I have used them successfully for quite a while. Of course, TEST them FIRST on the fabric you are using. I have yet to see one that did not come out immediately with cold water. They are now my first choice.
