I think I watch too many horror movies. I immediately thought of the movie, Resident Evil, and the bad guys the Umbrella Corporation. So my suggestion is turn it into a Halloween piece by adding some zombies.

look for some Morton Salt fabric...I've seen it not long ago...Maybe on Ebay? Your hubby's idea is neat...and the salt fabric (little girl with umbrella stomping in a puddle) would be perfect. Otherwise, a Sunbonnet Sue/Sam?

Mind if I ask where you found the fabric? I like is so much. I would make a tote bag out of it.
Really cute fabric... how about a stack and wack...
I made two Pillowcases from the same fabric....so cute.
It would make a fabulous kaleidascope quilt!! That's like stack n whack - use a 60 degree triangle to make it. Love that fabric - if you just can't figure out what to do with it, let me know - I know!! Let us know what you make. Marlene in very HOT FL

Since it rippled after washing; I have a question, did you wash the fabric before making the bib? Just wondering if that maybe was why?

I've seen that fabric before, too, and I keep thinking that it would make a great scrub top for my friend (a pediatrics nurse). I've resisted buying it so far because I have so many other fabrics for scrub tops for her!
Corky, I love your umbrella quilt! Do you know the pattern name, or if it's available online?
I have been looking for (more of) this fabric for several months. It's no longer in either of the Hancock stores near me, and I can't find it online, either.
If anyone finds some, please, please, please let me know!!! Thanks! PS: If I can find enough, I'm gonna make a kaleidoscope quilt, using the original print as the backing. It will be called "April Showers Bring May Flowers." :-) |
Ooh I like the idea of a little boy in a yellow rain coat and hood stepping in a mud puddle...or the rain girl that's pictured on salt...my minds gone blank...was it the Morton Salt girl?
That's a good idea. Find some prints and fussy cut to make a little boy and a puddle.
I wonder if the Sunbonnet Sue/Overall Bill might work?
I really liked your husbands idea...the boy in the mud puddle ! would be adorable !
Tote bag, pillow case, it would be wonderful for a stack and wack if you had more fabric. Beautiful piece of fabric, shame you only have one yard.

perhaps make a ruffled edging for an umbrella in a corresponding color? AND A MATCHING TOTE!! Love it!!

I think this would go with a "beach ladies" panel. You could call it rain or shine...
Cute fab. I think that would make a cute border print for a quilt done in several of those colors.

Sorry for the double post!! |
An umbrella pouch for taking your umbrella along with you...for those "just in case it rains" days?
I love your DH's suggestion, or look for the "Morton Salt Girl" fabric and use her. Maybe you could find a panel that had several "MSG's) and use the other as a lattice or border. Just a though. Do love the material, good luck and post what you do use it for.
Love this fabric. Do you have the name & maker? I would love to find some. All the ideas sound great too.

Blow up the pattern 400 % or more on your printer until it is the size you want and tape the pages together. Make 2- use one to cut up. The other one is a guide or plan to use to get the pieces in their right places. Pin the pieces to fabric, then cut them out and using fusable interfacing - follow the directions and fuse them down. Then take a pic, post it here and if you want to - ask us - what next? |
Is there enough fabric for a bowtucks purse?
You might want to Google for free coloring pages of a boy stomping in a puddle. If you locate one, download and print it. Then you could applique it onto the fabric. One site to try would be http://www.coloringpages.com. There are many other sites to try, too. I do this all of the time. If I find a photo that is too big yet I still want to use it, I insert it into my word processing program. I resize it and then print it. I hope this helps. :)

I love, love this fabric. I wouldn't cut it up into very small pieces. You'll lose the pattern. At least that's my humble opinion.
Love the tote bag and umbrella suggestion.
Here is a link to a free pattern from Simplicity that I found here on the board:
http://www.simplicitynewlook.com/ind...ge=page&id=126 Would be cute for adults and/or children... |
love your idea... would be really great
I'd hate to cut it up because it is so cute so I'd keep it for a border and make fun blocks picking colors from this fabric
No offense, but why would you buy that?! Donate it
to the local Good Will. |
That's adorable!! Can you find a panel (or make your own) of Waldo's face? Put him in the middle and it would make a good snugglie for a little kid. No problem finding Waldo when he's a big face in the middle in spite of all the umbrellas :)

I think a applique wallhanging of my favourite movie would be ideal. Singing In The Rain! I can see the street light, and a silhouette holding an umbrella. No need to worry about the face if it's behind the umbrella. Use the umbrella fabric for a nice wide border. Just another suggestion to add to the dozens you already have.

I like his idea.
