I love color, and had to buy a yard of this fabric at Hancock's, but I don't know what to do with it. I don't have small children in the family, don't have these colors in my house or on my porch, feel it's too large a print to wear. . . Could it be a table topper? My DH says make a picture quilt with an insert of a boy stomping in a puddle, but I don't know how to do that. Ideas?

Jim's Gem 08-26-2011 11:46 AM

Cute fabric!!!!

ptquilts 08-26-2011 11:50 AM

A tote bag?

Lee in Richmond 08-26-2011 11:59 AM

When I was at Hancock's they mentioned iron-on vinyl. Anybody used that?

I don't have any suggestions for you but I love that fabric.

Oh wait I have an idea! A beach blanket!

yayaquilts 08-26-2011 12:41 PM

Yes, I have used the iron on vinyl. It is easy to use. I made bibs for my grandsons. One drawback....after washing it kind of ripples but it doesn't come off which is good.

fun back ! that way it is whole piece !! fun fabric !

paulswalia 08-26-2011 12:52 PM

Did the coming of Hurricane Irene influence your purchase?

Lady Crafter 08-26-2011 12:54 PM

OOOOOOOH ..... Stack & Whack!!!!!

MaryAnnMc 08-26-2011 12:57 PM

I think it wants to be an umbrella. Iron-on vinyl or serious waterproofing spray. It would make an awesome umbrella!

pscott392 08-26-2011 01:51 PM

The fabric is too adorable. I'd probably try to use it as a solid piece and not cut it at all.

Scraps 08-26-2011 01:56 PM

A tote bag and put a small umbrella in it for a gift!!! Really cute fabric!

I like this idea! Really cute!

jdiane318 08-26-2011 02:14 PM

I would find some solids to coordinate with it and make a strip tube quilt. Lovely colors.

sushi 08-26-2011 02:28 PM

I've been looking for more of that fabric in order to make an OBW.

I bought 2 yards when I first saw it but need more. If you'd like to sell it, please contact me!

lovequilts 08-26-2011 03:17 PM

I love this fabric. I live in "Seattle" LOL.

I like your hubby's idea!!! that would really be cute

rexie 08-26-2011 06:18 PM

An umbrella koozie?

gramajo 08-26-2011 06:55 PM

Love the fabric :D Stack N Whack would be awesome. Oops, you'd need more fabric because of the repeats.. Tote bag would be really cute.

Annaleehunter 08-26-2011 07:10 PM

I would mix it with denim and make a personal sized couch blankie!

Jingle 08-26-2011 07:28 PM

I would have bought more and maybe make a whole cloth quilt with a large stipple.

I sure hope my hancocks has that fabric. I love it.

mmdquilts 08-27-2011 03:33 AM

It would make a great table topper for an outdoor set!

Lee in Richmond 08-27-2011 03:52 AM

A rain hat might be cute -- anyone know of a pattern that's not too complex? A tote bag would be a good idea, too. It seems to me it doesn't want to be cut up, but used as-is.

What about a bow tuck purse, as these colors would go with every outfit.

fabricfairy 08-27-2011 04:03 AM

I would do a tote bag , a couple of inches from the base I would do black and white spotted fabric and the lining and handles the same , love the fabric.

lsmft 08-27-2011 04:06 AM

I LOVE the fabric -- it reminds me of NYC streets on a rainy day. It would pair fabulously with NYC themed fabric from "The City Quilter." They have a website.

thinking of what your husband said...will one of the Dick and Jane pictures be appropriate for the middle panel??? I remember seeing Dick with an umbrella jumping in a puddle of water....

whinnytoo 08-27-2011 04:21 AM

Just had a brainstorm........... you could make Amy Bradleys "Bountiful Beauties" or "Flip Flop'n summer" by Cedar Creek and use your fabric for borders!!!

I have a little girl and boy in rain gear from an old coloring Can't look for it right now, but if you're interested....

coachmatthewsvhs 08-27-2011 04:41 AM

border?

plmsmith 08-27-2011 04:48 AM

I would hold on to it. When you see a new pattern or an idea comes to mind you will already have the fabric.

Lee in Richmond 08-27-2011 04:49 AM

I hadn't thought of putting "him" in the middle, but I like that idea. I saw several images from that one download that I could applique. No luck finding a rain hat pattern so far.
