I am one of these persons that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." For a large quilt, I love 12" blocks, so I got five across/seven down, 2-1/2" sash, 4" border. If I don't want the sashing, I add one more block up and down. For the coverlets, I use my 12" blocks - 3 across/5 down, same goes for the sashing. The coverlet ends up 52x80 and the large quilt is 80x104. That is with the 2-1/2" sash and 4" border. Those are the only two sizes I like to make. My baby quilts are the same size as a coverlet. I like them for on the floor, to go on a youth bed or t win bed.

That's what I do. Edie

I give them all away and rarely make something specific. My favorite way to add to the size of the quilt is to break up a border with a keyboard border within the plain one.
Hope this picture helps.

What a unique way to add width and length. Your quilt is gorgeous.

From mug rugs to queen bed size! :)

Unless I am doing a charity quilt and quilting it myself on my DSM, I usually make something in the twin size. Most others are in the 40x60 range. This way, I can use one width of yardage for the backing.

I mainly make bed size quilts, although I also like making lap quilts and baby quilts, with an occasional wall quilt in between.

I like to make lap size or table toppers and bags because they are much easier to handle with my RA. However I now have several queen size that I have the fabric for that I have to make soon. I also have fabric for a bird lap quilt ready to go.

Hooray for graph paper and saving money by figuring out your own patterns.

Most of my quilts range in size from 42"x54" to 55"x72". I make charity quilts, my family has plenty of bed sized quilts. I don't like square quilts, much prefer rectangular quilts.

I make larger quilts (king size for DH and myself), somewhat smaller ones for others. I did start with lap quilts and will do that size for charity quilts.

Typically most of what I do is approximately the size of the fleece throws you can get for about $3 as that is what I've been using for backings.
Lately I've made some larger ones. My latest is 64x80.
