I prefer to use a thinner thread for piecing, such as Superior's Masterpiece (50 wt). For quilting I may go to a little heavier thread so the quilting shows (except when doing SID or tiny backfills, then I will stay with the thinner thread). Using a thinner piecing thread takes up less room in the seam allowance so helps in achieving accurate 1/4" seam allowances.

gutterman 100% cotton, have loved it for years, have never strayed after seeing all the threads magnified recently I can see why. It was so smooth magnified

I use Coats & Clark cotton covered polyester Dual Duty - - -GASP - HORRORS!

It works well in my machines, and seems to work well with the fabrics I use. Besides, it's what I have a large supply of.

So far, hasn't cut into the fabric of my 15 y.o. used on the couch quilts. The bindings are starting to fray, but all the seams still look just fine - no fraying or pulling or cutting at any of the seam lines.

I use whatever I grab. Sometimes C&C, quilting thread or Connecting Thread. I no longer even care what colors. I have been making scrappy quilts and some lights on one and darks on other side. I'm with Bear, I have lots of C&C threads and never cuts through the fabrics. I have been making quilts since 1966 or 1965.

For piecing, I've been using Superior's Masterpiece 50 wt. I would like to try Aurifil someday. For quilting, I use whatever color matches the best.

Bottom Line, taupe color. It disappears into the fabric.

Most of my pretty colors are C&C, as well.

I use Connecting Threads almost all the time.

But I did use Bottom Line when I was sewing a bunch of tiny pieces together that needed to fit together exactly.

I use Aurifil,Mettler, Connecting Threads and Gutterman cotton threads. I can even use it with my treadle machines and my Viking Sapphire 875, none of them complain.
