I grew up calling it material for sewing clothes as that is all we did basically - but if it was a quilt it them became "fabric" so ?????? so I think it is whatever you want to call it - it seems fine to me... here where i'm at is a big quilting area - thus it is all fabric -

My mother and grandmother were quilters and always called it material. I'm training myself to call it fabric just because it seems everyone in the quilting world does now. Of course I live in a different state now, maybe that's why, I don't know. Anyway I have lots of material from my mother and am adding fabric to my supply all the time.

It depends on where you live like soda or pop!!

I like "fabric"! Fabric is to spend money on, it is to feel the softness it has, it is to stash away for when it is needed, it is to make beautiful, wonderful quilts!

My mother called it yard goods.

"A rose by any other name is just as sweet." Call it whatever you are comfortable with. froggyintexas |

I might have called it material when I was younger but my first job was at J.C.Penney's. I worked in the fabric department not the material department. So I guess I've been calling it fabric for a long , long time.

DH calls it 'cloth' and the result a 'blanket'. ;-) Yes, he's just trying to get me riled up!
