i have different stashes..i have reproduction and vintage, sale bolts in bland colors, small pieces and FQ for purses and stuff,
a stash of batting, a stash of binding, a stash of fabric I fell in love with..HELP! |
That is me too. I have tons of batiks but they aren't appropriate for every kind of quilt. I have no solids (except black) and hardly any tone on tone fabrics. I always (oh darn) have to go to the quilt shop to pick up some when I need them for a project. :oops:

I have a few "blenders" mostly Moda Marbles, blacks and some Kona solids I was given by a friend but I too find buying solids really boring.

A lot of comments have been that you're missing blenders and tone-on-tones... which got me thinking...
Would it be a useful offering, if in our store, we offered bundles of four FQs, blenders in particular colors? Four that all work together and are closely related but different enough that you could use them all in the same project? Like: - mid to light pink - dark pink to fuchsia - blues leaning toward violet - true blues - four good greens the color of leaves - sandy beiges (white, tan, darker) - gray fading to black and of course MANY more combinations. Basically the whole rainbow to pick from , just... in groups of four. So you don't have think to hard, or break the budget. Do you think there would be a market for this? And does it make a difference to your answer, because we're an online shop? |

I am the opposite. I have ONLY blender fabrics, small prints and tone-on-tones. Honestly they are the only thing that really, really appeal to me. I can't do floral or anything with large prints. I love tone on tones and solids as well as printed stuff. I've picked up things here and there from garage sales and if it's cotton and cheap, then I buy it. So, my stash isn't very big, but it's bigger than I would have gotten just buying fabric for the project I was doing. That being said, I find I have very little purple. I have a TON of medium size prints. Now that I'm branching into some smaller log cabin projects, I find that I really need small prints.
What I have found frustrating in my experience with FQ bundle packs is that some of the prints can be very large. Any way you cut it, you are splicing up the pattern. When I get FQ's, I'm very selective about what size prints they are. Otherwise, if I need FQ's, I just buy them individually, or buy a full yard and make my own. |

I could use more $$, as well as more lt. backgrounds. Kona solids, esp. white and black.

I don't have any reproduction or 30's fabric.But they are not something that I am interested in. I don't have much in florals either.
