I get mine at Hancock Fabrics when they are on sale.

If I don't piece mine using reg. fabric, I use Kona Muslin in wide widths that I buy from Jo Ann's. I've also ordered wide backings a few times from QIAD.

I buy 108" wide "blender" fabric off eBay for lap- and regular-sized quilts. It comes in lots of different colors, which I like.

On child-sized quilts, wall hangings, table runners, etc., I purposely make them less than 43"-44" wide so I can use regular fabric without piecing it.

Marshall's Dry Goods have good wide backing prices. Have purchased from them.

fabric.com has a really good selection and good prices. best part, free shipping after $35 so, makes it worth it, 3 yards will give you 108"x108" (they also carry some 110" & 120" fabrics. i have been shopping with them for over 10 years now and have always been happy with my orders. i do piece alot of my backs but when i want a whole cloth i always turn to them first, they even carry 108" wide flannels!

I'm with Franie.....what I have done for quilting has had the backing pieced. The Joann's near me does not carry a large line of colors in the wide backing and I want what I want and don't want to settle for a color I don't really like.

Try backsidefabrics.com They have great customer service and will send you free samples. Another idea is one that Bonnie K Hunter uses to piece backs from 10 1/2" squares. It is a great way to use up stash and makes a great reversible quilt. Check out her website quiltville.com
