I do believe one can teach an old dog new tricks...it just takes longer...

I have to laugh at my husband as yesterday he came to me wearing
two jackets. Both are green (ugly drab even) one denim and the other
fleece.
He told me he wanted me to sewing buttons, snaps, or velcro so that
he can turn the fleece into a "liner" for the denim. Then he started to
"nit pick" how I was lining them up and marking them. I told him one
more word out of his mouth and he will be doing his own sewing.

He laughed!! said that would be a cold day because I wouldn't let him
near much less use one of my machines. Well he is partly correct, I WON'T
let him use either of my Brother embroidery machines, but I WOULD let
him use the Janome (piece of junk).

He also wants me to make an iPad pillow for him with green fabrics, but
so far he hasn't liked any of the greens I picked out. I am almost ready to
send him into my fabric room to pick out his own.

If my DH started to sew I'd move out. That's no lie. I'm not that wifey. LOL
