You know you are to cut 2 inch squares for a quilt and you, without thinking, automatically cut 2 and 1/2 inches.
What do you do without thinking that makes you know you are a quilter? |
I look at a tile floor and think what a great quilt pattern that would make.
|
Have to agree with Dakotamaid...
The best one I have heard on this subject is.. looking at the pattern on floor linoleum and saying to yourself..Geez that would make a beautiful quilt block *L* Linda B. |
You get a birthday card and you see "applique patterns" in the picture on the front.
|
I do this too! The bathroom floor at work is driving me crazy as I can see so many possibilities.
You know your are a quilter when you look at the architecture of buildings and see quilt possibilities. |
When you are watching movies you spot the quilts right away on a bed and say to your husband, " That's a log cabin".
|
You know you are a Quilter when:
scraps look VERY interesting carpet and tile on floors has possibilities you stab yourself on the needle you left in your shirt you can spot another quilter by the rough pin-pricked finger on their hand never make mistakes...only create a LOT of design elements ...and most of all... you must get your Quilters fix each day by stopping in on this board, even if it is just to lurk! |

Actually I take photos and create quilts from them...I feel so much better getting that off my chest  |
You know you are a quilter when...
...you rush back from the lady's room at the restaurant to sketch the pattern you saw on the tile floor because it would make an outstanding quilt pattern. ...you catch yourself just before you blurt out to the lady in front of you in line at the grocery store "Your skirt would make a great quilt!" (but really, it's a compliment, right?) ...you find yourself thinking that working is sure cutting into your quilting time. ...you go to sleep planning your next quilt. |
I passed a woman at the bank the other week, and she had on a very pretty blouse - the first thing that came to mind was "That would be pretty in a quilt". lol
|
Your husband is picking thread out of your hair as you are walking into a store!

You grab your phone to take pictures ! You look at everything, with the question will this work into a quilt, quilt design, etc. Ask yourself, how can I repurpose this for a quilt or my quilting tools and studio? Pam M |
I admit I have pictures of the bathroom floor at work on my cell phone!!
|
You know your a quilter when perfect strangers walk up to you and ask if your a quilter. Then when they walk away you realize you have thread from the fabric all over the front of your shirt.
|
these are fun answers ! will be watching for more !
|
...you keep a sketch book beside your bed because you wake up in the middle of the night with quilt designs in your head and you don't want to forget them.
|
You are driving in Ohio and getting excited for every Barn you see with a Quilt Pattern on it!!!
|
I knew I was a quilter when I was drizzling icing on a top of a cake and I was stippling. Because I almost crossed over a line and started to freak.

when you go to sleep quilting in your head and you are still doing it when you wake up.
|
I actually told a co-worker I would like to have her blouse when she got tired of it. That I wanted to put it in a quilt. I was lucky in that she took it as a nice compliment. Never got the blouse though. She got transfered.
|
You know you are a quilter when
...you wait for the house to get quiet after everyone has gone to bed, just so you can have a little time for yourself and your sewing machine! |
I was tagged as a quilter in a store when I asked another shopper if two fabrics went together.
|
You know you are a quilter when silly thoughts enter your mind like: "I could quite my job, and stand on the street with a sign reading will work for fabric". (really this silly thought has swept through my mental attic on more than one occassion)

With me it's that I'm thinking abt quilting just before going to sleep and still thinking abt quilting when I wake up in the mornings...Always planning the next days project during those periods.
|
You know you are a quilter when your guests can follow the thread trail into the bathroom.
|
You know your a quilter when you can relate costs of items to how many yards that could of bought you
You know your a quilter when you have more fabric fuzz, threads and fabric snipits than your dryer lint catcher does!! |
My DH and I were measuring wallpaper and I said "Wait-add 1/2" for the seams."
|
I have just got out of hospital after having my gall bladder out. I was in the pre admission waiting area when I noticed that the lady next to me had a quilting magazine. We both forgot about the operation that we were about to have and were so deeply in conversation about quilts that they had to call my name 3 times before I realised. A good way to forget about nerves before op.

You look at fabric and a pattern to make yourself a blouse and decide the fabric would look better as a quilt. So you pass on the new blouse.

I was sitting in the lobby of an imaging center waiting to have a scan. I had been there most of the morning for a sonogram and subsequently they wanted to do a scan...right then. I knew there was something wrong because they were busy on the phone with a rush, rush call to my doc and insurance company (had to have three tumors removed...I'm great now)...and I ask the receptionist for a piece of paper so I could sketch the pattern in the floor tile. Made that block, too! Really like it!

You know you're a quilter when you are walking around in the fabric store and the clerk asks if you need help with anything and you reply..."no, I just need to touch all the fabric". I actually said this a couple of weeks ago. The lady just backed away real slow and said,..."OK".
|
When you see a picture (any picture) and automatically start dividing it into blocks in your head.

I check out what people are wearing and think if the patterns in the shirt, blouses and skirts would make for a good OBW!
