That is pretty much getting back to the real roots of this hobby. And I am just like you only taking it further and using treadles to make my quilts start to finish.

Billy

Billy sometimes I use the treadle I need to get my grandma's machine up and running, I haven't palyed with it since my mom agave it to me a month ago, I need to do that! it was converted to electric tho. Can I put it back to treadle in my base?

Cotton, Cotton, Cotton... I am a purist...

All cotton for me.

I'm more of a tree-hugger than a purist. :D I use mostly cotton fabrics, threads and batts, but also use silk fabrics and threads, wool fabrics, yarns and batts, and rayon threads (rayon is made from cellulose...aka, wood pulp). So, I always use natural fibers, but not necessarily just cotton.

Donna is it still in the original treadle base or A treadle base? If it is then it will be really simple. Just pull the motor and all of the cords and connections off of the machine and then get a treadle belt for it and put it on and you back in business.

One thing you might want to look and make sure all of the treadle things are there like the pitman arm, pedal, and bandwheel. Pretty much everything that makes it function.

If you need any help just let me know and I will do what ever it takes to get you going again!!

Yeah, I'm usually a purist. Though I have been known to use some rayon thread for appliques. But...no polyester on my quilts.

I go buy quality instead of content. I will pick a poly blend fabric over cheap loose weave cotton. I use poly, nylon, cotton, rayon, and silk thread. Mostly poly in the bobbin and cotton for the top. The Best in Show quilt at Paducah this year used a poly blend for the quilt top.

If it feels good and the colors go together, then it goes in my quilt. Have only used polyester batting or fleece so far. Nobody has complained yet! (well except for the first one that I had to restitch because my seams were much too scant)

Can count me as a Pure Rebel.... Do prefer the cottons, but of not, normally no one dies !!
