Nope not me. I buy what I can afford. I like cottons but I do have a lot of cotton/poly blends that I love. If it feels nice, is tightly woven and is a price I can afford then I'm taking it home. Never paid much attention to what my threads are. I try to buy at thrift shops and yard sales so I can't be too picky.

Cotton, cotton and cotton. But I've considered trying wool batts. And I bought some wool felt to try on out but probably not on a quilt.

SSSHHHH don't spread this around... but only my top fabrics are pure.. the rest of the quilt ( batting) some are cotton, some polyester... the thread C&C dual duty  LOL

Not a purist here! I use what I've got or what I can get hold of! (I get a lot of stuff from charity chops and cut it up!)

I used to be a purist, only cotton fabric, thread, batt etc. BUT--have gotten into art type quilts and now use everything from upholstery fabric to sheers to satins etc.
Thread painting on projects is now important too and find the Marathon threads work well for me. They have a bit of sheen, so work well for art projects. |
I prefer all cotton.

I am not a purist - I use what ever I have on hand - when/if (but not lately) buying fabric then that is the only thing I make sure is cotton. Batting I use the poly/cotton blend and I like hand quilting with that. Threads for piecing is thread that was my late MIL's (cheap thread, but it works) - My quilting thread I use Coats Hand Quilting Thread and love it.

I started out sewing clothes for myself at 17. I bought what I could afford. Now I have gotten into quilting and I have been using all cottons but if push came to shove, or I fell in love with a fabric I would use anything I liked!
