I also took their online classes Quilting quickly 1 and 2. No LQS here so they are mine. I learned so much, it was well worth the money. They were both 1/2 price when I bought them.

toadmomma 05-19-2011 03:44 AM

Love you tube use it alot, learn lots of things DEB

Yooper32 05-19-2011 03:52 AM

It was terribly painful and lurchy when I was on dial-up, more like impossible really, but now on wireless, it is wonderful and I can actually hear what they are saying and see what they are doing. I once resorted to watching and taking pictures of critical maneuvers with my digital camera while still on dial-up. Now, that is desperation.

Homespun 05-19-2011 03:58 AM

Yes, I have used Youtube for quilting helps.

lillybeck 05-19-2011 04:00 AM

All the time

To: Mommomjoann - the button under the youtube screen on the far left is two vertical lines. Click on it and it will pause your video and become a right pointing arrow head. When you are done, click on it again and it will start up.
Happy stitching.

pkelly1947 05-19-2011 04:28 AM

I use it all the time. I'm very visual & can see it once. I'd have to read about it 4 or 5 times.

QuiltMom2 05-19-2011 04:30 AM

I love the internet because if I've forgotten how to do something, I can generally type in whatever and get directed to somebody who does know what they're doing!! Have also found better ways of doing some things.

matraina 05-19-2011 04:32 AM

I do it all the time. It's great!

dolores 05-19-2011 04:42 AM

some times it makes more sense when you see it done instead of trying to follow directions. Visual aids are great I use it so I can see what I need to do or what I'm doing wrong. The videos have helped me alot

many craft person 05-19-2011 04:46 AM

Yes I use youtube it helps to be able to see it done as well as being able to re-run it if you need to.

ldoss 05-19-2011 04:50 AM

I use u tube a lot and at times place my little dell right beside my machine so I can pause and play back etc- also love missouristar quilt.com(grt tutorials and ideas)

lonestardreams 05-19-2011 04:50 AM

I am using it more and more all the time. I started watching more as I found that I could learn so much from the tutorials posted there. I still use the old ways- books, classes and trial and error but youtube sure helps.

Jo Cypher 05-19-2011 04:51 AM

Yes, I use Youtube a lot. I especially like the Missouri Quilt Company videos.

Grammiesews 05-19-2011 05:02 AM

I use them all the time. I like to have them running while I am sewing so it seems like I am in class.

sandpat 05-19-2011 05:25 AM

KwiltyKahy 05-19-2011 05:25 AM

Jshep 05-19-2011 05:34 AM

I love Youtube. Never thought about using it like Google. Will have to try that. I too love the Missouri Star Quilt Company videos. Unfortunately, when I get on there I never get anything else done. LOL

Roberta 05-19-2011 05:54 AM

I'm a visual person and use Youtube all the time so I can see what I should be doing.

ruck9085 05-19-2011 06:01 AM

Since I'm one of those people who nedto be shown not told, I use the ouTube tutorias a lot. It's agreat venue for those who are like me.

And apparently,I can't type this morning either!

valsma 05-19-2011 06:20 AM

Like everyone else here i'm a visual person and learn better by being shown. Books are not always written so that my brain can comprehend. I am going to have to check out the Missouri Star Quilt videos. I'm not sure if I have run across one yet or not. Sounds like they are a great resource for tutorials. Thanks for the hint.

#1piecemaker 05-19-2011 06:23 AM

I use the search here.

jahaper 05-19-2011 06:33 AM

I use Youtube a lot - actually, every time I have to cut bias binding! I have such a mental block when it comes to cutting bias binding.... lol

JusticeClan 05-19-2011 07:01 AM

I use it (YouTube) all the time and since I'm a visual person, I love to see it actually being done. It's so much better then reading instructions.

lue 05-19-2011 07:04 AM

I learned to make a tube quilt from youtube. I love it (a lot cheaper than a class and I can go back to the video repeatedly).

Linn 05-19-2011 07:16 AM

I go to You tube quit a bit. Watched the videos for tube quilting, rag quilts , sewing machine vids and lots more. Lots of info there

sewmorethings 05-19-2011 07:29 AM

Very much so.......learned a lot and love to watch them

yesyoucan 05-19-2011 07:36 AM

yes I used it to install my storm door

GGinMcKinney 05-19-2011 07:41 AM

I use you tube for so many things I want to learn including quilting. My husband looks up how to do all kind of repair and this week "how to install a new potty". It is taller, saves water, and flushes so strongly. We love his new work!!

BeckiQuilts 05-19-2011 07:46 AM

I recently learned how to do "Praire Points
on Youtube. Great Tutorials.

I hope this is the right spot. I can't seem to get my post into the right forum topic.

Yes, I watch YouTube a lot for different techniques. If I can watch the process I learn faster. The 10 minute block on there is awesome. I made some baby security blankets using the 10 minute block as the focal point. On one of them I added prairie points to the 10 minute block. Really cute. I am also teaching myself to crochet using YouTube tutotials. At some point maybe I can add crochet and embroidery to a quilt. I am pretty much a beginner still and stay pretty close to patterns already tested and tried. I am beginning to venture outside the box just a little. YouTube helps with that.

I watch the you tube tutorials (wish they could be longer) but how do you subscribe to a certain page....you mentioned the Missouri Star Quilt Co., how is that done?
Will be the first to admit there is so much I don't know!

dellareya 05-19-2011 10:21 AM

I use it for many, many things. It is great. I just watched a video about making butter. We are doing this activity at school tomorrow. I LOVE YOU TUBE!
