question about batiks
#12
I have mixed batiks with cotton fabric and never had any problems. I did it when I couldn't find the exact color I needed in a batik. Batiks are a tighter weave, but if you stick to good quality quilt store fabric when you mix, it should be fine.

I say if you think it works with the pattern and fabrics together then go for it. I do it all the time. i use batiks as focals and as secondary fabrics just depends on what i want the focus to be on. its nice to be able to have lots of options. just lay the fabric out till you find a pleasing grouping. its really all about tastes.

I always have batik on hand to mix with other fabrics, printed or solid. I just finished a quilt with a batik backing and it matches the front perfectly - all the colors are in it. I used the least predominant color in the batik for the binding.Turned out just the way I wanted it to. Edie
