Question about thread color while quilting

I would change the grey thread to coral when quilting over the coral fabric and grey over the remainder, although the grey looks good too over the coral. That said, I might be tempted to change the colors to match the fabric or use a variegated thread instead, as there are some gorgeous variegated threads out there in regular thread as well as Rayon, which I tend to use a lot in my quilting, as I think it gives the quilt some pizazz.

Grey works with almost any quilt color. It somehow has the ability to diffuse itself into the quilt, not matter what color you are quilting over. The only exception I would make to that is if your quilt is warm pallet based instead of a cool pallet, like your pictured quilt. In that case, where the tones are earth tones in warm, autumn colors, your go to color would be a medium beige or light tan. I think you will be really pleased with this quilt if you stick to the grey thread. This rule of thumb is also true when piecing a quilt - grey (or beige) works almost every time.

After quilting way too many passes with the grey, I ripped it all out and started again. I didn't have any coral thread on hand but found a soft blue that is really pretty. I am almost done quilting the top and am so glad I took the time to rip. I really must trust my instincts! Thanks, all, for your thoughts.
