I prefer the glass-head 2" long very fine pins, but I have the Clover flower-head and the cheap flower-head. The nice ones from the LQS must have been there so long they had started to oxidize, because the surface wasn't really shiny and smooth and I hadto clean them and polish them so they would go through the six layers of fabric in my OBW. They were sharp point but dull on the shaft.

I have some I bought from FP, but the flower heads on the pins keep coming off. the pins themselves were very sharp, but don't like the fact the ends keep coming off.

I got my flower head pins at Walmart and they are really thin and sharp. Need to go get some more as I lose them when I go to classes or sewing group. People borrow and don't return.

I have a set of the old flower pins from JAF (probably Dritz) and they work fine. I just use them in attaching numbers to the top of my Bargello strips to prevent me from making an error of getting the strips in the wrong order when I am ready to sew them.

I have also had this problem. Some I bought were just thinner and went into fabric better and others were just thick. I bought some at Hobby Lobby and Hancocks, and they were all thick. Not sure of the brand though. I am going to go check out Clover ones online.

Thank you for all your replies. The ones I got were Dritz. I'll find some Clover.

I've only got on flower head pin and love it. Been thinking about getting a box of them. So, I'll be waiting to hear the replies.

I bought some button head pins and find that they rust very easily. I loved the flower head pins because of their sharpness.

Even though I gasp at the price of pins I buy the more expensive ones because for something that I use a lot and over and over again I don't want the frustration of having to struggle with them. The better pins are a good investment over the long run.
