I'm making quilted stockings also, but I'm putting recycled sweaters on the back side so they have some stretch. Husband requested "quilted but stretchy-so-you-can-cram-them-full stockings", took me a couple of years to find a solution for that request.

If I had enough fabric and embellishments to do do the second side of such a beautiful stocking, I would probably still do the back in a solid different fabric just so I could make another matching stocking!

Great idea to use sweaters!
I sure do like your husband's way of thinking ... all the better for more presents!!

Beautiful Stocking!

As others noted, the back side can be either plain or quilted - either works. What do you want to do?

Peckish - What a brilliant idea to us sweaters!

First of all--your stocking is absolutely gorgeous. I think I would put a solid fabric backing on your stocking-maybe the peachy coral fabric would be a nice backing fabric if you have enough fabric. Beautiful workmanship

Beautiful. Your choice certainly but I would use a solid fabric for the back.

Thimblebug6000! I've been thinking about your post and wonder if you could do a pieced stocking with a separate bunny that perhaps buttons onto the stocking so that as she grows, she may have it plain or with the bunny. Just a thought.
