Here are a few. Baby blankets are my favorite because they sew up quickly.

Also, when using felt, am I right in presuming that you don't have to have a seam allowence, just steam/press and blanket stitch the edges?
that's correct--for fleece and felt you don't need a seam allowance. It's wonderful fabric to work with because it doesn't fray. My needle goes through it like melted butter.

Thank you for the tips, looks like my farm yard quilt will probably be done this way now.

Also, I love your quilts... so cute!

Be careful if fusing Batiks, heat and bond gives a permanent stain to the fabric, and it does not show up immediately. It will show up only after applied to the backgorund fabric and pressed and cooled. My guess is that it is reacting with some of the chemicals used in the Batik making. I have not had this happen with any other fusable such as Steam a Seam and Wonder Under, and only with batiks. I tried every thing to get it out ...and it was decieving at first I would think it was gone and then press the area .... and there it was again.

I use steam a seam light, wonder under seems to have more problem with not sticking.

when I do applique I use freezer paper cut to the exact size and shape I want finished ap. then I cut fabric 1/4inch larger all around. Place fabric face down, (on ironing board) freezer paper shinny sid up centered on fabric. fold over the 1/4 inch all around with dry iron. once done and cooled, remove freezer paper. then I take fuzeable thread and lay all around in the folded over 1/4 inch edgeing. Now it is ready to place on my background, instead of pins I snip off a couple of small 1/2 inch pieces of fuseable thread to hold in place while I hand, or machine stitch it in place.

I have other tricks I use fuseable thread for, if any one is intrested.
