If you can ask the girl what color's she likes that could be helpful. Gray is very much in style now, but my Granddaughter likes blue.

My 13 year old granddaughter and her friends are all about purple, aqua and grey.

When I was 13, I loved anything with animals. Especially horses and cats. Hmmmm, guess I haven't changed much over the decades.

There are so many patterns you can use but for color my DD and her friends went through the purple faze at that age.

When I made quilts for two nieces turning 13 I used their favorite colors - one is Purple all the way, the other Loves Green- the brighter the better. I think hers must glow in the dark it is so bright. Every child is different, but most love colorful. I’ve found in our family the guys love the bright multicolored quilts better than the girls. The boys are more ( fearless) when it comes to color.
This scrappy quilt appeals to girls and boys.
you just don’t want childish prints.

In my experience, having 4 grand daughters, any pattern would do, as long as it's Purple! LOL
