It is called Swirls and it was a free pattern.
http://www.pbtex.com
The pattern calls for 8 inch square but I just used 5 inch charms instead. I love the pattern and it is so simple, just HST. I used a couple of marble charm packs.
I just went to the website and they no longer have that pattern available. Just make HST that are half light and half dark then put a narrow sashing and borders. The layout is easy to figure out with a picture.

I think the real or first charm quilts were all different fabrics. Now there are some variations. Some use two matching squares in the quilt and the child has to find the pair. In the year 2000, there were a lot of quilts designed for 2000 fabrics, 2000 pieces. Just a couple of variations.

One charm pack dosnt go that far. I usually buy 3 of the same fabrics.

Cut idea. I like the offset look rather than just doing framed squares. I will try this on my next I Spy quilt.

An I Spy Quilt is a child's quilt. It is a game, "I SPY a dragon............," and the child finds the dragon in one of the blocks, etc.

I Spy was a book that came out maybe 10 (?) years ago and a lot of the square and charm quilts are a spin off from the original idea.

Carol,
A word of caution: I Spy quilts can be addictive! I do all of mine out of novelty fabrics, fussy cutting alot of the motifs. I try and make sure not to have two fabrics the same (unless I am doing a Match Game quilt, but that's another topic!) I think I have more fun selecting fabric and cutting out the squares than the kids do playing the game!

:D
