I would not use the dates either. A cousin was devasted when her cat of 16 years died. I made her a 'cats' quilt. She said it helped a bit.

I think asking the mother would be a great idea. When my last dog died (four years ago) I couldn't even say his name without crying for months. Even now it's a little difficult to look at his pictures.

It is a beautiful quilt and I know she will just love it. You are very kind to think of her at this very painful time.

You have put so much into this quilt, I love the final touch of adding the picture, but checking with her mother makes sense.

Quilts are so comforting! I think it's a very loving gesture! Yes, it would be nice to note on the label that it's about her loss.

Lovely quilt. I would include picture and the Rainbow Bridge poem as already suggested. It is part of the grieving process. When my mom passed, brother passed, and several other sad events happened within a 4 month period, counselers suggested picture collages. It really did help.

I think this is a wonderful idea. I would put the picture, she can still cuddle with her fur baby. Name forsure, dates,(might have to ask her mom on that). What a tragedy. Dogs leave paw prints on our hearts. Bless her and everything she had to go through...
