Quilt Halo
#5
I tried it at the Knoxville quilt show in July and was not impressed, especially for the cost. I did buy some fabric grippers from the Gypsy Quilter (they make the Gypsy Gripper for your ruler) for a lot less and it came with two sizes.

I will be honest if you are going to do FMQ you are constantly moving the halo it gives you about 10"s of movement and if you are doing small work maybe it will be ok. I was not happy with it.

I'm glad I saw this post-I was playing with my new machine tonight and decided to try FMQ for the first time. I stuck to basic stippling, but I did notice my hands slipped over the fabric and didn't have very good control. I will try some of those grippy gloves and keep practicing before I actually attempt it on a quilt!! Such good tips on this board!

I bought the Gypsy Gripper because I'm a grabber by nature. But honestly, I forget to use it! Maybe when I venture into bigger things. But one mistake I've made when using it: I bump into the back without noticing and THAT is a problem. I don't use gloves either. Maybe I'm "not there yet" as I've been doing very small things as a newbie to FMQ
