Quilt labels before or after washing quilt?

that's a cute label - do you hand sew the top of the triangle?

This is how I plan to do mine. It would be sewn on under the binding so obviously done before washing. I would think adding a label to crinkled fabric after washing would be more challenging

i add the label when the quilt is quilted (unless i want to quilt over it-which sometimes i do) before binding- i generally locate my label in the bottom right hand corner- so the binding covers 2 sides (bottom/right side) and i hand stitch the other 2 sides down.
I have also made labels that were placed under the hanging sleeve (a good place to put one if entering a show (or fair) where it may not be ok to have the label you want on your quilt--also is a good security measure---if someone should "try" to claim your quilt you can 'lift' the sleeve and prove ownership.

I make my label, iron fusible on back of label, iron onto back of quilt, usually in the corner where the binding catches one corner of the label and turning in the two raw edges on the other corner, then sew on the binding. When hand sewing the binding, somewhere in that corner, when I need to re-thread the needle, I sew the undone corners down.

This is cool. Two on the top two corners, and you have the hanging sleeve and label all in one.
