    Default Quilt labels

I did a search on this topic but didn't find anything. Do you use labels on your quilts with your name and the date gifted? What kind do you use? Individual ones or do you cut one from a fabric panel of labels like the ones I saw on Amazon? Do you embroider on the label or use a permanent marker?

Here's something recent to get you started. I don't put labels on my quilts.

You can say anything you want on a label. For gift quilts, I generally say something to the recipient and add my name and date.

I haven't labeled my quilts in a long time, and I know I should. When I did make labels, I printed from the inkjet printer to fabric that had been treated for that purpose. If the quilt was a gift I often included a picture of the recipient on the label. However I'm not convinced that those labels will stand up to much use, so I would prefer to use embroidery on future labels.

I put my name and the year. If it is a gift, I put the occasion and recipient's name.
I sometimes print it from my ink jet on treated white fabric. Other times I hand write with a Pigma Micron pen on white fabric.

I make mine using some fabric I bought many years ago. I use this for labels only. I did not want a stark white so I have this mild print. I use a fabric pen and hand write the information. My labels are 6 x 9 before sewing. I sometimes put a lot of information on them. They may not be pretty but they do the job.

I make my labels on my embroidery machine. Quilt name: Date quilt was made: My name: A special message if I know ahead of time the recipient.

I print mine out on the computer to special fabric. I saw my grandson's the other day ( the quilt is 8 years old) the label is still very legible.

I do this, too. I put my DH and my picture as the givers on a baby quilt for relatives because we won't see them very much as they grow up.
